Its About Taste

Sometimes it’s hard to decide What treat it’s safe to eat. The chocolates And cheesecake slices Ice cream delights And biscuits Are ready and waiting for me. Yet, I pause a lot Because the calories I’m counting And gratification comes at a cost. Will my diet go haywire Will my discipline be derailed I’m still thinking what choice I will make.   However, in my mind I know it will be A frozen yogurt Of any flavor  I will choose. After the first bite And that delicious creamy taste It is the obvious decision on my plate. I don’t ever feel guilty Because with this treat My cravings are satisfied to the max. It’s the afterglow I get When my urges are met Thus, I’m sated, and elated Without wrath.   18/10/2021   Please share your thoughts, comments, emojis with me! Give Me Flowers

I love flowers. They are such a frivolous loving gesture with no practical thought of what could be done with the money; and the few times I have received them it has been one of the best feelings being on the receiving end. Yes, flowers can get me going -smile- and I remember gazing at bouquets delivered to the ladies at work with envy, happiness and sadness. Well, I did get some flowers, and you can read about it below-  Give me flowers!   “Flowers look nice They looked great on the table next to my own Wished there was a bunch to take home They did not belong to me                                                                                    Yet I enjoyed them immensely One single bouquet for me to gaze upon Given by my colleagues, with ...

A Meadow Of Grace

The grassy bed up on the hill. Was a place to escape For my daily thrill. To go outside away from it all Was my secret place With everyone around. The space alone was under a tree, With only the lizards to bother me. You can see the grotto, Where the priests would pray. It was a sanctuary, A place I wanted to stay. You can call it a meadow, because of the ground It’s what comes to mind if meadows are to be found. Yet still if I consider My Scottish retreat many years ago, I walked through some meadows, And never wanted to go home. The air was very different, from my tropical breeze, The birds and the sky seemed to envelope me. Every moment I was able to run wild and free, Was a moment I rejoiced for the blessing from Thee. Blessed beyond measure, to discover another secret place, Made for me by Jesus,  a meadow of grace.   8/06/2021 Inspired by a prompt from Eugi’s Causerie . Thank you for stopping by. Please shar...

Thinking back

No longer playful I used to be. The trees always beckoned me. Loved hiking, the water, trekking in the wild. Playfully lit with spontaneous smiles.   No longer playful I used to be. Running a thousand steps, happily. As the gates opened, my strides went to the line. Playfully running; happiness was mine.   Forgot how to be playful Probably too old to be. It requires activity, that feels uneasy. Got to get back that spark, and desire for fun The clock has been ticking; its time for the sun.   Thinking back from the past Reflections have begun, On the days when playing was actually done. Will book me a weekend, at a place far away Hopefully I will find, some time to play!   Eugi’s Causerie weekly prompt has inspired the above!   Thank you for stopping by. Dancing Swirls

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Ahmed Odeh Dance, yes you girl Make the wind swirl, Around your legs As you pivot and float. Jump up high and hold onto the air Your swirling dance moves, without a care.   You don’t stand still With the music swirling around Everyone is amazed Yet you never hear a sound. Dance, yes you girl It was always meant to be The rhythm and your movement Just perfection and harmony.   29/03/2021 Thank  you for stopping by. A Rainbow Story

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Hedi Benyounes Raced up the hill to look outside To see the rainbow colors which cannot hide The grass was wet And down I rolled Beyond my house Far down the narrow road. The birds looked on Chirping in delight The dogs stepped aside To see my disaster flight. The sun shifted past the clouds Exclaiming with glee Come out and let’s play And bring your family! As I landed at the bottom of the hill, Lay on my back, For a moment very still. Gazing up at the sky,  It was simply wonderful to see The rainbow was looking right down at me. What a beautiful sight As the birds made their songs, The puppy and the frogs All jumped up and down. Contentment and joy Descended from above, Softly whispering to me, Here is the rainbow you love! 20/03/2021   Thank you for stopping by. A Rainbow Of Hope

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Jason Pognacnik There are rainbows in life that tip the scales They come when life happens When good intentions fail. If suddenly you feel sadness and fear Just remember a rainbow is waiting right there. You see, the rain must fall For the grass to grow, And there must be some weather For the waterways to flow. The thunders must sound to keep us cozy inside There must be some noise To help the little children hide. For the rainbow to come, The rain must subside, Cause looking out through the window The colors will come alive. It’s a symbol of hope And a lesson for folks to see, That even when you cry Eventually, you can be happy. The rainbow only comes forward After the rain is in the past, Its your miracle when life happens To say tough times will never last!     19/03/2021 Eugi’sCauserie weekly prompt is the inspiration for this poem. Let Me Get To Extraordinary

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Denys Nevozhai Let me get to extraordinary Life keeps getting better all the time Makes me smile. There are many places to know, I’m just itching to go. I just want to see everything this world can present at my feet That’s extraordinary. Taking the pencil beyond its sphere, To find what life is doing to me here. I’m at a place that I don’t want forever to keep me, Want to feel the sand, In another land. Touch, taste and see, Want everything for me To be extraordinary!   11/03/2021   Eugi’s Causerie weekly prompt is the inspiration for this poem. Valentine's day and Love

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Jakob Owens Valentines Day and Love I'm not looking for roses, Don't send me a bouquet. I'm not feeling for your chocolates Don't get me started on even cake I'm not feeling for the date night Nor the sentiments of love Why do you wait on Valentines Day To give me all the above? I'm not feeling for your phone call To ask me out, for dinner this time I'm not waiting for a special song The one, that says "you'll always be mine" I'm not trying to be difficult Really, I'm not sure you can see Why do you wait for Valentines Day To say - I love you, my boo, my baby? I'm not going to try to tell you About all the days you made me cry I'm not even going to give you One more reason, to stay at my side I'm still the person you met so long ago The one you promised to be faithful to Why should I wait for just one day To hear you love me too...

Understanding Life

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Alex Ringer Understanding Life I sit alone and think Wondering about my time here on earth. When we are born It is our death which comes next We walk through this world Not knowing the day, the hour, or the moment, when we will say goodbye. Do you live to die or are dying to live? When life happens, we grow And when death is coming We do not know. Thus, we forget that time is all we have that we hold, purposing ourselves on earth. I sit alone reflecting on, all the folks once judged, maybe also being judged. The unfairness of time, it does not give time for full recompense. There is joy and kindness later on in life, because we learnt from our experiences and lived our lessons well. Can we redo from birth to present? Is there a way to turn back the clock to be- a better human, maybe? Yet the curtain wi...

Winter Dreams

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Jack Finnigan Winter Dreams I walked outside to a chilly breeze The weather I love makes me freeze. My mittens are on and my scarf wound tight. Going out to do shopping and get home before night. Winter in London is happiness to me It’s a tropical reversal And all I want it to be. Catching my first flight Eight hours away I found to my surprise, I wanted to stay. The clothes and the fashion The food and the fun My first visit to London in winter, Was loved by everyone. When my business was finished It was onto the sights And I was ever so entranced by the cold winter’s night. I never felt the frost bite Nor the chattering of my teeth. It was pubbing and laughter I was in my glee. The day came too soon when I had to say goodbye My heart now belongs to a cold winter’s night. A fairytale that ...

My Happy Alarm - The Dawning

My Happy Alarm – The Dawning   Dawning light shatters my sleep Forgetting the dreams, I wanted to keep My slumber was happy with no end in sight But then came the dawning ending my night.   The shimmering light cascaded to me Waking me up from a wonderful sleep The moment is here another day has begun The dawning has brought out a glimmer of sun.   My feet came out from under the covers And looking out through my window the birdies did hover As I sat for a second, inhaled deeply, looking at them play Welcome to this dawning, and a new day.   I got ready to go outside to my desk With coffee in hand, fully awake from my rest I’m looking forward to tonight when I will once again get to sleep Till I see you tomorrow, dawning- do not peep!   26 th Jan 2021   Photo Credits: unsplash.com/ Kurt Liwanag Copyright © 2021 Dwordslayer& Donna-Luisa Eversley. Kind or Cruel: Choose one

You have a choice today ... To be Kind or Cruel What do you choose? This week I challenge you and me to not look the other way when we encounter an uncomfortable situation with someone in need of help. It does not have to be a destitute person on the street. It can be closer to home or even on Facebook or any social media platform. A day to positively impact others is required. What You choose to do is an action . Hope or nothing. Being indifferent You don't need to share this with anyone, or you can check your inner circle and make this a week where your ripple creates a wave. Pandemic safety - wear your mask / wash hands /social distance /stay at home Have a beautiful week. #kindness #humanity #choices #love Find me on Twitter https://twitter.com/DLE41 or drop me a line on dwordslayer@gmail.com Photo Credit: Matt Collamer unsplash.com Copyright © 2020 Donna-Luisa Eversley and Dwordslayer. You are Entitled to Happiness

You are entitled to Your happiness! Yes, that's right, you actually own the rights to your happiness. You have a choice every day, to wake up and smile. You can be happy at the beginning of the day, and during the day, and yes, before you go to sleep, it’s okay to be happy. During this year 2020, the world has fallen to its knees. Everyone, in all countries of the world are focused on something we have no control over. The Coronavirus Covid_19 has become a common denominator in conversations. It’s the one thing we can agree matters to most of us, and our families. It has become of source of fear, a sense of dread, and even a mood of hope. In the darkest moments we can find hope. The Fear is based on what we don’t know, and because there seems to be a lot of certainty surrounding a cure. While the World Health Organization (WHO) has given general and basic guidelines for global management, it’s the managing or lack thereof which triggers fear. The sense of dread is rea...

Disruptive Praise

Disruption & Praise When I go before God and pray I seek comfort or am expressing my gratitude for his faithfulness and the grace he gives me daily. Worship delivers a message. It heals and removes the barriers between me and God. He gets his time and I get mine.   There are times though when our praise to God should move beyond the norm. In fact, our praise to God should never be so comfortable that movement does not take place. Yes, I’m always feeling moved, but… Disruptive praise shakes you the worshipper. It shakes the people around you. It moves the belly, gut, the pit of your stomach, and it hurts. It hurts because something is happening. Something is moving deep within the soul, and tears may fall, voices rise, and disruption happens. We all have things to confess daily before God and he wants to hear it. He wants to relieve us of our burdens of guilt and shame, anger and fears, hurts and momentary despair, but when its locked deep inside it must come...

Dealing with Personal Irrelevant Biases

Family Life Today it dawned on me how uncomfortable it can be loving people. Actually, its more about loving those members of my family whom I love and desire to share some happy moments with. My eldest son advised that "our family is the new normal, so your ideas of normal are outdated." He is right. In the movies we are presented with different types of families and situations which appeal to our senses. These images do impact on our perception of truth and can influence our expectations. I like looking at happy movies, and find it difficult to watch the uncomfortable stories. The horror dramas like 'Fatal Attraction', and 'Homeland' and many others, are based on some real stories that disturb and shake our emotions. Life is not an ideal perfect. Yet we expect perfection from our family members and can hold them to unreasonable expectations. My mother and father divorced at an early age and I grew up in a single parent household. Instead of apprecia...

A Compendium of Experiences: 2017

Hello to all my followers I've got another update which I hope you will enjoy! Its a compilation published on Thrive Global via Medium to April 2017! "It is only at the point of death a man discovers the value of life as it flashes before his eyes!" There is a lot going on right now in my life. Even with an empty nest there can be many things taking place which are time consuming and mentally & emotionally draining. Life is an ongoing process which only stops when we cease to exist - die. When someone passes away and we feel the pressure of the finality of life, a wave of sadness creeps up. Sadness for all the times you did not meet and all the things you never said or shared. The introspection can be a weight itself, or it can free us of the urgency of  being busy with the unimportant things. A man who receives news that is about to die in a few days, weeks or months, understands the value of what he leaves behind, so he changes. It is at that moment w...
