FROM MY MOTHER’S FILES

This past weekend my mother was unwell. We do not agree on many things, and for a moment I thought she would leave too soon. As is the norm, when I visit we eventually disagree, mainly about differences in choices. My thoughts went to our most recent disagreement and ( in hindsight) it felt like a storm in a teacup, with the teacup being quite tiny. The trivial can be exponential in the moment, passing quickly like the ticking of a clock. Then overcome with emotion, I asked God to give us more time. Thus, I read some of her words, and I am reminded that my own ability comes from those genes shared with all her children. My mother writes. Yes she writes. She has published a few books locally in Trinidad and writes to the newspapers making comments on current events. Today I read  one of her stories which I am sharing with you. This is a local setting, but applies to different places worldwide. Her name is Maricita  Moreno Eversley. Consider This Consider the cross; n...

Blogging and that's my Jazz!

Get Ready... 2016 - is a year I take chances and challenge myself to do something different.I need to! My present has changed - life happens and the choices are “Live, live, live.” So here I am jumping into something with uncertainty.  A few months ago I started blogging on LinkedIn and it has helped me to find solace and a place of peace in my words. I read and commented, engaged and enjoyed sharing with many wonderful people from different places all around the world. Now I understand its a whole new world my eyes and mind had never seen. It has life and can breathe. Social media and social communities are an evolution in technology and has been here for some time. I just caught the train via LinkedIn rail and my journey has fully started. No more standing in line! Get Set... Taking a step to share what I normally would to a sales team in person via a blog takes a lot of planning. The first week of two minute daily posts, are done and the images to bring them to life ...

Christmas Nostalgia - Warming The House With Laughter

The entire Christmas season as I remember it from childhood was filled with noise. There were squeals of laughter, and lots of shouting and some tears.Overall, the house -my home was warm with love and cheer. Even in times when there was little money for much, my mom somehow made the home warm especially at Christmas. She was and is an amazing woman - my mom - Maricita Moreno Eversley. "It is what is in the heart and not the material things which bring joy" , this is what I remember from her. It is what I practice today. It is the tradition of sharing and enjoying what you have, and not thinking about what you don't have. It is living with the warmth within you and not seeking what others may have on the outside. On Christmas day I felt that warmth in my home. The fires keep burning, as the laughter of my children (grown -up), friends and 'borrowed' grand-kids  fill the air! How wonderful this season of love! Happy Christmas Season! Dwordslayer!
