Living With Peace

I am at peace with my past, though it still trips up my present now. The things that push me forward, disturb my inner joy. What lies beneath the surface, is hidden from all view The peace that I enquire on, daily gets to be renewed.   Peace does not run before me, nor do I leave it behind The way that life unfolds for me, is different and always kind. As I think about the hope I feel, and the future not far away. Peace knocks my heart’s door, and I let it in My peace is here to stay.   01/10/2021   Please share your thoughts, comments, emojis with me! A Meadow Of Grace

The grassy bed up on the hill. Was a place to escape For my daily thrill. To go outside away from it all Was my secret place With everyone around. The space alone was under a tree, With only the lizards to bother me. You can see the grotto, Where the priests would pray. It was a sanctuary, A place I wanted to stay. You can call it a meadow, because of the ground It’s what comes to mind if meadows are to be found. Yet still if I consider My Scottish retreat many years ago, I walked through some meadows, And never wanted to go home. The air was very different, from my tropical breeze, The birds and the sky seemed to envelope me. Every moment I was able to run wild and free, Was a moment I rejoiced for the blessing from Thee. Blessed beyond measure, to discover another secret place, Made for me by Jesus,  a meadow of grace.   8/06/2021 Inspired by a prompt from Eugi’s Causerie . Thank you for stopping by. Please shar...

My Canopy

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Jiawei Qian   A Canopy of Faith Which I profess My life is a story Of the times, I’ve been blessed. A childhood of joy, mirrored with some pain and sadness But there is always my hope My life in this world.   There are very few times My faith has not been tested Indeed, but for my beloved Jesus My heart would not have rested. This canopy of hope has resulted from my faith The lessons from life Proved my God is great.   I’m covered by a canopy Which keeps me safe at night Giving me protection Cloaking with its light. As my destiny unfolds Let me share this with you Jesus Christ is a canopy; for me and for you. 02/04/2021 Thank you for stopping by. Dancing Swirls

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Ahmed Odeh Dance, yes you girl Make the wind swirl, Around your legs As you pivot and float. Jump up high and hold onto the air Your swirling dance moves, without a care.   You don’t stand still With the music swirling around Everyone is amazed Yet you never hear a sound. Dance, yes you girl It was always meant to be The rhythm and your movement Just perfection and harmony.   29/03/2021 Thank  you for stopping by. A Rainbow Of Hope

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Jason Pognacnik There are rainbows in life that tip the scales They come when life happens When good intentions fail. If suddenly you feel sadness and fear Just remember a rainbow is waiting right there. You see, the rain must fall For the grass to grow, And there must be some weather For the waterways to flow. The thunders must sound to keep us cozy inside There must be some noise To help the little children hide. For the rainbow to come, The rain must subside, Cause looking out through the window The colors will come alive. It’s a symbol of hope And a lesson for folks to see, That even when you cry Eventually, you can be happy. The rainbow only comes forward After the rain is in the past, Its your miracle when life happens To say tough times will never last!     19/03/2021 Eugi’sCauserie weekly prompt is the inspiration for this poem. Always Extraordinary

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Steve Halama Do you really want to be extraordinary? Let me go - Not into the light but into the darkness. Let me find that place where others fear to walk. In the light, my light cannot be seen easily. It is in the challenges, That my glow will show, And it takes the fears and greater effort, To find that glorious difference. If I walk into that unknown dark place, It says that I am strong, I am able, I am not giving up, I am not letting go of, Taking chances and looking past risks, Not letting go of hope, trust, Not holding back on forgiveness and love. Walking into that different and dark place, Says that I am not afraid to be, Extraordinary! 14/03/2021 Eugi’s Causerie weekly prompt is the inspiration for this poem. Let Me Get To Extraordinary

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Denys Nevozhai Let me get to extraordinary Life keeps getting better all the time Makes me smile. There are many places to know, I’m just itching to go. I just want to see everything this world can present at my feet That’s extraordinary. Taking the pencil beyond its sphere, To find what life is doing to me here. I’m at a place that I don’t want forever to keep me, Want to feel the sand, In another land. Touch, taste and see, Want everything for me To be extraordinary!   11/03/2021   Eugi’s Causerie weekly prompt is the inspiration for this poem. Playing in your school yard Always full of joy Our neighborhood makes it Very hard to be employed. Children, jewels growing up Smiling and giving Impressionably able to mold Smiling as your life unfolds. Exams are always hardest Feigning satisfaction during hunger Hoping for a feast before the pain Smiling because life has much to gain.                      Jewels, making it in the world A story is told Your heart glows brightly like the diamond you are A star Life sits at your feet A life busy, things to do with people you meet Your glimmer dims Zirconia is a jewel still Aging with time The jewels, some are mine Their cut and edges sharp not smooth Setting them apart Jewels with and without heart ...

Understanding Life

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Alex Ringer Understanding Life I sit alone and think Wondering about my time here on earth. When we are born It is our death which comes next We walk through this world Not knowing the day, the hour, or the moment, when we will say goodbye. Do you live to die or are dying to live? When life happens, we grow And when death is coming We do not know. Thus, we forget that time is all we have that we hold, purposing ourselves on earth. I sit alone reflecting on, all the folks once judged, maybe also being judged. The unfairness of time, it does not give time for full recompense. There is joy and kindness later on in life, because we learnt from our experiences and lived our lessons well. Can we redo from birth to present? Is there a way to turn back the clock to be- a better human, maybe? Yet the curtain wi...

My Happy Alarm - The Dawning

My Happy Alarm – The Dawning   Dawning light shatters my sleep Forgetting the dreams, I wanted to keep My slumber was happy with no end in sight But then came the dawning ending my night.   The shimmering light cascaded to me Waking me up from a wonderful sleep The moment is here another day has begun The dawning has brought out a glimmer of sun.   My feet came out from under the covers And looking out through my window the birdies did hover As I sat for a second, inhaled deeply, looking at them play Welcome to this dawning, and a new day.   I got ready to go outside to my desk With coffee in hand, fully awake from my rest I’m looking forward to tonight when I will once again get to sleep Till I see you tomorrow, dawning- do not peep!   26 th Jan 2021   Photo Credits: unsplash.com/ Kurt Liwanag Copyright © 2021 Dwordslayer& Donna-Luisa Eversley. Dwordslayer quotes - Change

This year has been filled with changes. The end is coming and so to the beginning. The one certainty is change, and adapting is a given if we must survive and thrive. This quote is taken from Change, time and relationships  (2018) and gives us something to consider as we move forward. What do you think will be different next year? Do you think you will welcome the new, or will you cling to the old? Going back is not an option, so why not make each change count?  Keep safe. Dwordslayer

Speranza means Hope

Speranza I have hope That one day I will sit at my window And look out into the sky Everything will be okay And I will not worry or contemplate My next best move In that moment The strategy of living Will simply be to live. There will be some yellow and orange flowers Somewhere close by And I will gaze at them Enjoying their beauty. Maybe a fly will come buzzing And I won’t chase it away Because in that moment I will have hope I will be in a place of rest Desolation and sadness Will not overcome me As everything will have a moment to be Away from the fervent pace Called life. I have hope That the sounds of Reo Speedwagon Enya and Bryan Adams will linger in the air And I will sing along And the birds will know and sing with me. I have hope that My little window will be Wherever I want it to be And my happiness in The stillness of beauty and time Will be enough While living. I have hope that everything Does n...

Sleepless but inspired

Hey world... I’ve been anxious, worried, and afraid. There is a lot of stuff going on this year, and as December draws near, it feels as though I am depleted. There is nothing more I can give. Sleep is hard, because I won’t allow myself the freedom to accept that I’ve been speeding through life, because if I drive slowly, my dreams will leave me. So how are you doing today human? When do you stop pushing yourself beyond what is possible? Who is chasing you when you are chasing your dreams with those ridiculous deadlines set, because your survival is not based on nutrition, but on some standards mere mortals will never attain? Stop. Slow down. Breathe. The eye of the storm is where you need to find calm, peace, and acceptance of self. It is okay to stop because you need to. Let everything that matters become what does not matter because you need to take care of you. Be brave and be vulnerable. Cry. Free yourself of the things that make you anxious, worried, and afraid....

Too Many To Count

It's too many to count! There are too many times when the wrong thing is said. Too many times when backing down is not an option- at least from my perspective. With so many things that have gone wrong in my life , there is so much more that has been right. The framing of all your experiences can change as time changes. It is okay to see things from a different angle. This is the beauty of time. Can you count the pebbles in the picture, but do you really want to? You see, sometimes it is not what is facing us that is the challenge, but how we see the task. Maybe the amount of pebbles do not matter, but what matters is they are placed before us, in a way that seems confusing and out of place and order.  If you look closely at the pebbles a few stand out.  Different and imperfect shapes and sizes, but we do see them. I see you among the pebbles, and count you.  Be blessed and encouraged. Copyright © 2020 Donna-Luisa Eversley and Dwordslayer. All Rights Reserved

Mother's day and what it means to be called Mom...

Many of us have the privilage to be called Mom, either because we gave physical birth or because we loved som eone enough to be called Mom.  Being in a state of mommyness is everlasting and is something many of us have as a big part of that nurturing spirit we choose to embrace. Being a mommy aka mom aka mamee aka mother goes beyond one day, indeed it can take a lifetime to fullfill that honorable role and still be giving. There is no perfection in being a mom, as we can be boh loved and hated , revered and revolted against by those we call our own. As mom, we have a great capacity for forgiveness, sharing of wisdom and selflessness.  On this day, I'm not interested in all the fancy declarations of love and simultaneous good wishes and commercialization of the essence of being mom. Instead, I am humbled by the enormity of the task we all undertake, as caretakers of the human race. I'm remembering those who came before me, cried before me, spread love before me...

Change, time and relationships

I recently shared on change and relationships on facebook, and wish to add to it here. Change we have learnt is constant. It is ongoing and never static. Yet somehow understanding how change impacts on our lives is mainly focused from a business perspective, in the form of change management and changing culture or changing business dialogue. It's interesting to listen to people talk about their impression of change, because it appears to be automatically accepted - yet it is not automatically understood. Many books are written on emotional intellgence, change management, and changing times. Everything affects people, and relationships, and its important to spend some time focused on how change affects us and the relationships we invest in. People should matter to us because as a person you should matter to you.  Change and time go hand in hand, one does not exist without the other, thus time, change and people are intertwined with newness which is ongoing. We should see...

My sweetest struggle – life

No one prepares us for life . From our development in the womb of a woman, whom we will be birthed from, nothing prepares us for life. Moving from the comfort or discomfort of a small space within a human body we are formed. In love or otherwise our destiny and lives begin with the one we call mother. She is our provider, and nurturer. Life is good. Even when its bad its good. The ability to feel and love is good. To breathe is good. To feel means we are alive. I did not always appreciate this. There have been bad times. Tough times are real and come in varying degrees. There have been times when fear would lead to despair and anxiety. However, from the beginning of my life I had my eldest sister. I always had my family of sisters and my mother. Every family has challenges. Some challenges are visible, and others are hidden. Eventually, perceptions are formed based on external influences, judgements are made and as a child you create your normal space. Just like in the ...
