Always Extraordinary

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Steve Halama Do you really want to be extraordinary? Let me go - Not into the light but into the darkness. Let me find that place where others fear to walk. In the light, my light cannot be seen easily. It is in the challenges, That my glow will show, And it takes the fears and greater effort, To find that glorious difference. If I walk into that unknown dark place, It says that I am strong, I am able, I am not giving up, I am not letting go of, Taking chances and looking past risks, Not letting go of hope, trust, Not holding back on forgiveness and love. Walking into that different and dark place, Says that I am not afraid to be, Extraordinary! 14/03/2021 Eugi’s Causerie weekly prompt is the inspiration for this poem. Picture Perfect

Life is never Picture Perfect! The selfie is a wonderful creation in my opinion. I can set the camera to take that 'perfect pic', positioning myself, lighting, smile, and any other expression. I can delete the ones that look uncomplimentary and anything that spoofs what the public sees.  Life is picture perfect when its presented, and the memories will hide what folks should not see sometimes. Weaknesses and failures are not on display.  Hmm, but life is never picture perfect.  Looking back at the early years, it seems that  now, I'm recalling the heartaches, pains, hurts, and griefs, as the good times, success, and wonderful childhood adventures together. That perfect picture does not exist in my memory. It does not exist in truth.  Balancing on the tightrope is what helps to get to the next level stronger. Its how I became stronger. Accepting the learning from the challenges and setbacks ...

My sweetest struggle – life

No one prepares us for life . From our development in the womb of a woman, whom we will be birthed from, nothing prepares us for life. Moving from the comfort or discomfort of a small space within a human body we are formed. In love or otherwise our destiny and lives begin with the one we call mother. She is our provider, and nurturer. Life is good. Even when its bad its good. The ability to feel and love is good. To breathe is good. To feel means we are alive. I did not always appreciate this. There have been bad times. Tough times are real and come in varying degrees. There have been times when fear would lead to despair and anxiety. However, from the beginning of my life I had my eldest sister. I always had my family of sisters and my mother. Every family has challenges. Some challenges are visible, and others are hidden. Eventually, perceptions are formed based on external influences, judgements are made and as a child you create your normal space. Just like in the ...

I Challenge You...

The song "You raise me up" never fails to bring tears to my eyes. It does not make me sad. If anything, I am filled with a passionate feeling of courage and a desire to excel. There are many songs which will inspire and some can motivate action - for me that song does it! In 2016, I spent seventy-five percent of my blogging time on this great new social media platform called beBee.com, and it was quite an interesting year filled with a lot of growth, engagement and feelings. We build many relationships online. This is a new way of meeting and forging relationships with people whom we gravitate to through some level of affinity. In the last few weeks of the year 2016, I realized my life now included a group of individuals I can call friends, who I had never met face to face but through consistent interaction, sharing and sometimes verbal discussions. For some the use of WhatsApp, skype, and Facebook were extensions of our growing affinity, which started via beBee....

A New Beginning

A Resolute Beginning This year has begun and I have not shared a few posts and thoughts from this December 2016 just past. I have been thinking and was a bit engulfed with finishing the year as I started it - living! The new year's resolution for 2017 was easy - Be Healthy, Be Happy! There were days when the words to share would come rushing into my thoughts, yet my body would not follow through. Subconsciously, and eventually in awareness I have been resting. The rest was not the type which could be shaken by excitement, actions or movement. It was more like a meditative period of awareness and quiet. Everyone was busy. I was busy at home (5 mph !). Yet still, my pause on life helped me to find the 'yellow brick road' towards inner peace. I was able to see more. Feel more. Accept the physical pain on another level of tolerance. Finally I am able to be, simply be. Looking behind There is a lot to be learnt from challenges and pain. Yes, there is a lot of...

Another Milestone...

To all my readers and followers... I've been off  for a while. Had not written, and though I tried to keep up with my reading, the challenges seemed to block even the thing I love so very much - writing and sharing with my global audience. I have quite a bit to publish over the next month. Seems I'm slower than usual, but this 'wordslayer 'is a fighter, a warrior, and I will keep pressing forward! It's been a long four weeks . Time has passed and so too the challenges which came during the time. Challenges come into our lives to prove us, and not to harm us. Yes, there are moments when it seems the climb up the mountain of life is steep, but looking back it was quite flat - it was the perception of my capabilities which needed to be changed. Change does not come from simply saying positive things - but that is a start. It comes from every action taken, moving closer to the challenge and away from the fear. Today, I pray that we can all heed the call of the...

Inspired By The Challenges

A gentle reminder The challenges of the day should be embraced. This is how we get to test ourselves and be prepared for the next level in our lives. Maybe, there is no food for today, no money for today, and dire straits aka tough times are looming near. Your back is up against the wall, and you are flustered. At that moment stand up, and walk away from that place where you are. Take a few steps, and look behind. Now you can walk forward. Where you were is not where you have to be. You just made a choice. It may seem like a small step, but it was a big move. When we were growing up there were days there was no food, buts somehow my mother could prepare a meal with rice and margarine, and it tasted like fine cuisine. There were days when we lived on hope and a prayer. We lived, we grew, we overcame our challenges. Yes, my mother was employed as a teacher, but there are many who are employed living in a state of poverty. There is a cost to living and a cost to...

Flash Forward ...Its Today!

To Give…. ( This was written a few months ago. For whatever the reason, today I'm publishing, and hope you are inspired to live! ) We are here for more than one purpose . I firmly believe that Jesus Christ died for me, you and everyone. Some may believe the same, and some may not. I love you all. What would l like my legacy to be, came crashing in almost two years ago. I felt that if I should die, I have not given enough, done enough, or loved enough. My thoughts were not on how much more money I need for bills, or the millions I wish I had in a bank account for my kids… no I simply wanted to have given more than I have. That thought hurt . The thought that I may not be around to give was building within me as I wrote. I needed in some way to share my heart, for others who could see, could give others their heart, making hearts that much bigger. A way of being of service. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder can make death seem imminent.  If someone did not ...

When The Sun Stops Shining...

Finding Sun… The only perfection is in the one who created us. He made us and perfectly formed us giving us all a ‘free will’ to make decisions and choose. Yes, we are the ones who decide where we go, and what we will do on this journey called life. I’m going to pull this one  from very deep within, as I seek to share with you a place of peace and reassurance. The road gets rough sometimes, and we still need to get a ‘move on it’ and live, achieve and accomplish.  What do you do  when life feels like the sun has stopped shining, and the cloudy skies empty a downpour of continuous rain? What happens when you get to the point of frustration, when clinging to hope seems in vain? Well, today is the day  you get to let the sun out if it’s not shining in your life. It’s also the day; you get to share your sunlight with someone who is having a cloudy day! It is important to know that you hold sunshine which you can draw on, and you can also share some light with ...

Expectations and Limits

Expectations Life can give you a kick when you least expect it - in a good way! There are curve balls and circumstances which shape the things we expect. Sometimes a calculated and cautious outlook is necessary, and at other times, facing 'expected reality' shows our faith or lack of. People are the ones who set expectations and limits. How much is possible in a week of sales from one salesman will be different from two salesmen. The market conditions and economic climate, buying trends, competition and product offering are some of the things in the mix as we predetermine expectations. Once expectations are formed based on market potential and people potential, a realistic evaluation can be assumed, and thus expectations and limits are set. When expectations are exceeded, it does not mean the bar was set too low, or all conditions were lined up perfectly in favor of the successful person. It also does not mean lady luck stepped in. It probably means someone worked very...

R.O.A.R – CAPACITY TO CHOOSE

“There are no quick fixes in life…if the substance of achieving is learned”(Eversley,2016) Winning There are many ways to lose, fail, and give up. There is one way to succeed and win. Decide and choose which path you will take and get a move on it. The challenge is in keeping the mind and body in sync with fulfilling purpose and self-gratification. When a team wins and you’re a part of the team, you win. When you embark on a project alone and you succeed in accomplishing what you set out to do, you win. There is no ‘I’in team as we learnt in team building exercises. However, there is an ‘I’ in  ‘WIN’ and either in a group or on your own, you must bring that ‘I’ to the table. Doing your part involves getting your adrenaline to rush. It is that inner determination to achieve, which can get the blood pumping and the excitement to pull through. Through the years I have discovered every-time I get that ‘rush’ I will roar. Winning, in my opinion, means getting into a race with...

Be still my heart...

Overcoming challenges Life can have so many challenges, but we will get through them. We can get through them if we believe we are not alone. Whatever you face is temporary. It happens in a moment and can be gone in a moment. How you see the light depends on how you see and experience your light bulb moment. As I fussed over something beyond my own control, there was this realization. This 'light bulb' moment, when I stopped leading the battle and let someone who is stronger take control. I can do all things if I let go and trust that God will handle it. The circumstances may not have changed, but my heart and head actions changed. Thus, I became stronger, and able to face the next moment. Be Still My Heart Be still my heart and let God fight your battles Be still my tongue and let your words be of good This battle you fight Will be over very soon Be still, my beating heart He fights just for you Be still my heart and let the storm pass over Be still wayward tongu...
