You were made to be the best version of yourself!

When challenges abound be grateful for their existence. The presence of adversity, can move us into opportunity or despair. Choose wisely how you wish to proceed. The next step always presents learnings which can be overlooked because of the smokescreen which appears before understanding and then clear vision. I sometimes wonder about the never-ending life changes, and their disruptive influence over my life. There was always resistance to the newness and sometimes resentment. When I looked at what appeared to be a smooth sailing life for others, my burdens and load seemed heavier than they were. As I compared my life and found it lacking, feelings of wariness and uncertainty would creep in. Then doubt, and the self-seeking for all the ‘wrong things’ and decisions. However, when I shifted my mindset, and started seeing the fullness of my life and the overflowing contents of ‘my glass’, everything changed. Suddenly, the smoke cleared, and I could see. As I embraced and welc...

An Empowered Life

Question To Self... Do I have the skills, authority, capability, autonomy, motivation to take charge of my life? That is one of my questions to self, as I grow older. I am accountable to the 'me' I want to be, and have been throughout my life. If I want to feel empowered to succeed, follow my dreams and gain respect for accomplishments, walking the 'thought' matters. I had a discussion of sorts with my daughter, who declared at almost twenty everything she felt entitled to, with defiance and my thoughts went to 'empowerment.' Being empowered to make decisions and operate with some form of authority and autonomy has certainly been a topic of discussion for us women. Empowering our girls from an early age requires giving them the tools to move forward, and ensuring they have guidance and support systems to help them along the way. As I think about my daughter and the corporate and social world she has entered, I am reminded of my own 'rite...

Just Thinking Out Loud:5 - Jason Versey "Privilage...is Not Black and White"

Something Different... I belong to a small private messaging group which has stood the testing of the past few months. We are all connected to John White, but not necessarily to each other...that connection comes as we write, respond and share. I think about this group as a Think Tank  and we do seem to share so much more than blogging. We are an example of diversity and professionalism, creativity and innovation, compassion and love for each other, and much more. Somehow we have formed a strong bond, dropping in to connect whenever we can, and it seems we are quite consistent. I recently shared with these friends that I like them more than cadbury chocolates and applesauce - two things I enjoy for both celebrations and sad times. Interestingly, when consuming each I savor the flavor and taste, and in a similar way embrace the words we share. Most of us are on beBee.com , and I do hope when group messaging kicks in we can find a new home for our words. ...

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE USA!

A  bebee  celebration! Happy Independence Day to all the bees and  citizens of the USA! Feeling a Buzz on your shores ready to celebrate…bees are swarming! Today, I am sharing  some of the words of a few bloggers from the USA in my network who I enjoy reading. In fact, these writers make me chuckle, laugh, go into deep reflection and retrospection and keep me mentally stimulated by their words! For this day let me introduce some of my blogging comrades, with all the pomp and ceremony my fingers can evoke…   Matt Sweetwood   I am a fan of Matt, and the first day he liked a post from me I was thrilled for a week! It is safe to say I’m sweet on Sweetwood, no pun intended! He is a parent, businessman and an advocate for men’s rights. He is also a social Media Guru  who ‘knows the ropes’ and more. Here is my article of choice for today. He also has an excellent website you can visit to learn more on this link  https://msweetwood.com/...

Expectations and Limits

Expectations Life can give you a kick when you least expect it - in a good way! There are curve balls and circumstances which shape the things we expect. Sometimes a calculated and cautious outlook is necessary, and at other times, facing 'expected reality' shows our faith or lack of. People are the ones who set expectations and limits. How much is possible in a week of sales from one salesman will be different from two salesmen. The market conditions and economic climate, buying trends, competition and product offering are some of the things in the mix as we predetermine expectations. Once expectations are formed based on market potential and people potential, a realistic evaluation can be assumed, and thus expectations and limits are set. When expectations are exceeded, it does not mean the bar was set too low, or all conditions were lined up perfectly in favor of the successful person. It also does not mean lady luck stepped in. It probably means someone worked very...

R.O.A.R – CAPACITY TO CHOOSE

“There are no quick fixes in life…if the substance of achieving is learned”(Eversley,2016) Winning There are many ways to lose, fail, and give up. There is one way to succeed and win. Decide and choose which path you will take and get a move on it. The challenge is in keeping the mind and body in sync with fulfilling purpose and self-gratification. When a team wins and you’re a part of the team, you win. When you embark on a project alone and you succeed in accomplishing what you set out to do, you win. There is no ‘I’in team as we learnt in team building exercises. However, there is an ‘I’ in  ‘WIN’ and either in a group or on your own, you must bring that ‘I’ to the table. Doing your part involves getting your adrenaline to rush. It is that inner determination to achieve, which can get the blood pumping and the excitement to pull through. Through the years I have discovered every-time I get that ‘rush’ I will roar. Winning, in my opinion, means getting into a race with...

The Blogging Society

The Blogging Society Today marks the first day in a collaboration between Laura Mikolaitis and myself. We have embarked on a connection between the USA and Trinidad, cold and hot weather with our personalities and pen as our armor. We met online, and our words have been speaking to each other. Laura M (as I will fondly call her) shares some comments which blow me away and send me into deep thought and emotion most times. She is daring, witty and a ‘marketing savant’, and great blog supporter. Before I heard her voice, I knew she would sound as she did. She sounds all girly and strong with a bit of laughter in her tone. I’ve discovered over the past months we share a passion for ‘humanitarian advocacy’ in the workplace and have a shared compassion for taking care of those who need a voice. We now share our voices and perspectives on some questions on blogging! Can blogging be considered ‘news’ or opinions? Donna-Luisa:   Well initially I thought blogging was more about ...
