Dancing Swirls

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Ahmed Odeh Dance, yes you girl Make the wind swirl, Around your legs As you pivot and float. Jump up high and hold onto the air Your swirling dance moves, without a care.   You don’t stand still With the music swirling around Everyone is amazed Yet you never hear a sound. Dance, yes you girl It was always meant to be The rhythm and your movement Just perfection and harmony.   29/03/2021 Thank  you for stopping by. A Rainbow Of Hope

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Jason Pognacnik There are rainbows in life that tip the scales They come when life happens When good intentions fail. If suddenly you feel sadness and fear Just remember a rainbow is waiting right there. You see, the rain must fall For the grass to grow, And there must be some weather For the waterways to flow. The thunders must sound to keep us cozy inside There must be some noise To help the little children hide. For the rainbow to come, The rain must subside, Cause looking out through the window The colors will come alive. It’s a symbol of hope And a lesson for folks to see, That even when you cry Eventually, you can be happy. The rainbow only comes forward After the rain is in the past, Its your miracle when life happens To say tough times will never last!     19/03/2021 Eugi’sCauserie weekly prompt is the inspiration for this poem. Always Extraordinary

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Steve Halama Do you really want to be extraordinary? Let me go - Not into the light but into the darkness. Let me find that place where others fear to walk. In the light, my light cannot be seen easily. It is in the challenges, That my glow will show, And it takes the fears and greater effort, To find that glorious difference. If I walk into that unknown dark place, It says that I am strong, I am able, I am not giving up, I am not letting go of, Taking chances and looking past risks, Not letting go of hope, trust, Not holding back on forgiveness and love. Walking into that different and dark place, Says that I am not afraid to be, Extraordinary! 14/03/2021 Eugi’s Causerie weekly prompt is the inspiration for this poem. Let Me Get To Extraordinary

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Denys Nevozhai Let me get to extraordinary Life keeps getting better all the time Makes me smile. There are many places to know, I’m just itching to go. I just want to see everything this world can present at my feet That’s extraordinary. Taking the pencil beyond its sphere, To find what life is doing to me here. I’m at a place that I don’t want forever to keep me, Want to feel the sand, In another land. Touch, taste and see, Want everything for me To be extraordinary!   11/03/2021   Eugi’s Causerie weekly prompt is the inspiration for this poem. An Empowered Life...Watch Me As I Walk

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Joel Muniz Watch Me As I Walk Watch me as I walk My hips may shake a bit These legs they still look strong No heels on to give them a lift My shoulders don't slouch And my waist is a wee bit round But I'm sure you will not notice As I strut and sing my song. I've got the silver streaks My hair has lived through many trips A real natural beauty With some personality From my lips. Watch me as I walk, Confident glow of womanhood at its peak A lifetime journey ,and stories of which I speak My aging has never been in vain A point my look defines I've got the music in my brain Can dance, sing, and you will gaze I can still hold my own on the town Older and wiser, Yes, I have been around! Watch me as I walk See the mystery I’ve been living my life more than breathing I know all the pebbles on the street. You call me grandmother, wife, ...

A Valuable Year

We all waited to come through The sudden darkness of 2020. Eager for a new year which would end The plague felt by many. Yet, the future is still unknown, Even though the hope seems certain.   I do not long to see the end of 2020. There was much learned through the Adversity and different changes which Steam-rolled into the present as we know it.   I saw the homeless and the hungry given food By the man with little to spare. And I saw the woman embrace her spouse whom She had not paused to hold in a while. I saw the children struggle to learn amidst a virtual setting With teachers who knew as much as their students, Yet they both learned to understand together. I saw the parents with little knowledge teach their children The art of learning through a struggle to live. Then there was the business owner who realized his staff Were worth much more than he could ever have paid before And I saw the doctors and nurses dig deeper ...

Twilight Zone - Life Tip 1

What to do when you don't know what to do. If you ever feel boxed into a corner to do something which you know is wrong, and your core is twisted on what to do - do what you know is the right thing - then stand aside and let God take over. During our youth we compromise before that painful hurting experience. As we get older decision-making gets easier or harder based on adjusted values and beliefs. You see life lessons can take us into that 'informed zone of understanding' and we can choose to modify behavior based on compromise and comfort level. As we grow even older, it seems that the cost of compromise can be a too high a cost because wisdom can kick in - and that's a good thing. The twilight of day comes after we live through a day, and reflect on outcomes. You can grimace or smile in that moment! Growing up I looked to my elders to teach me about life through their lessons, as an elder (hahaha) it has come full circle, now the student has become the teacher. T...

Creativity, Innovation, Recycling: Opportunity waits for your action

Most entrepreneurs are not afraid to take risks! I started my first business at eighteen . There was a demand for a product which was always out of stock and decided to make my own. At the time I was not thinking about business plans or securing financing, and was clueless about manufacturing. Nevertheless, with boldness and more bravery than ever, I decided to ‘make some money’. Here is the story. Creativity, Innovation & Recycling Shoulder pads were the ‘in thing’. All garments especially ladies dresses, suits and shirts came with shoulder pads. I bought a ‘shoulder shaved pair of foam’ uncovered for $6 to $9 a pair. If it was covered it was upwards of $10. I liked to sew and design and made all my clothes. I was know by the owners and employees at most of the fabric stores because I was always looking for deals. My wages were small, but my desire for fashion was big! Everyday, I went to work for eight hours and returned home after collecting my newborn son fro...

An Empowered Life

Question To Self... Do I have the skills, authority, capability, autonomy, motivation to take charge of my life? That is one of my questions to self, as I grow older. I am accountable to the 'me' I want to be, and have been throughout my life. If I want to feel empowered to succeed, follow my dreams and gain respect for accomplishments, walking the 'thought' matters. I had a discussion of sorts with my daughter, who declared at almost twenty everything she felt entitled to, with defiance and my thoughts went to 'empowerment.' Being empowered to make decisions and operate with some form of authority and autonomy has certainly been a topic of discussion for us women. Empowering our girls from an early age requires giving them the tools to move forward, and ensuring they have guidance and support systems to help them along the way. As I think about my daughter and the corporate and social world she has entered, I am reminded of my own 'rite...

Just Thinking Out Loud: Life with Me is a Limited Time Edition!

Time In clearing the drafts in my email something popped up, "life with me is a limited time edition." So, here I go wondering where that line came from and saw it was from me - smile! I just have to smile at that cocky line which would have come about from somewhere unknown right now. If a thought comes to me I've been making notes on the 'notes app'  on my mobile or in my email drafts. Sometimes I go back and continue, or, the words can be left behind along with the memory of why it came to light. Writing can be a lot of fun when you pull everything together and a post or article is the finished product. When its incomplete if there is a residual remainder, the tale may never make it to the eyes of others. This brings me to some random thoughts on ending the year in a state of completeness. Is it necessary to complete? "To complete is to finish, making that which was started whole or brought to an end. Nothing more can be added, and even if s...

Finding the lost runner

I’m awake It’s after 3:00am in the morning and I’m writing a quickie note. I’ve already had five hours sleep and I’m restless. As I check my Facebook account an article jumps out at me. Maybe its the photo, or maybe its the first post by a friend in a runner’s magazine / blog which catches me. Pascal Derrien is a blogger and friend from Ireland. He runs. He cycles. He does the stuff I want to do, so reading his words is uplifting. I’m inspired, motivated and sometimes in awe. Here is the article I read, ” Lost In The Midlands On An Epic Adventure   from thesmartrunner.com  . The tag line for The Smart Runner is “eat smart, train smart, run smart”- I think they mean ‘live smart’! Looking back My daughter was around two and a half when I realized I needed to regain my fitness and relieve the stresses of being a single working mom. Coping with everything relating to parenting was always better when I felt good about myself. My sons were twelve and thirte...

Just Thinking Out Loud: 4

To nourish or eat - that is the question? What do you feed yourself? As I got off my bed this morning, I thanked God for my life today and got started. A part of our daily routine involves eating. Life requires nourishment and so we look forward to breakfast and other meals during the day.Its automatic the way our body says , “I need food..” , and it makes me wonder what our soul is calling out for. Yes, these thoughts are spiritual and by that action alone, nourishment is needed for my Spirit. Sometimes I awake with a song of praise in my mind.. today I’m hearing , “ my help, my help, all of my help cometh from the Lord..” I wonder if this is my call for more food. Just as I feel the ache in my stomach, my soul will send me a reminder, that it needs something. What we digest comes from what we put into our bodies. Would you eat food which is unhealthy, or will cause you intense pain intentionally? Sometimes I do. I consume many calories which are not healthy but wow they ...
