Kind or Cruel: Choose one

You have a choice today ... To be Kind or Cruel What do you choose? This week I challenge you and me to not look the other way when we encounter an uncomfortable situation with someone in need of help. It does not have to be a destitute person on the street. It can be closer to home or even on Facebook or any social media platform. A day to positively impact others is required. What You choose to do is an action . Hope or nothing. Being indifferent You don't need to share this with anyone, or you can check your inner circle and make this a week where your ripple creates a wave. Pandemic safety - wear your mask / wash hands /social distance /stay at home Have a beautiful week. #kindness #humanity #choices #love Find me on Twitter https://twitter.com/DLE41 or drop me a line on dwordslayer@gmail.com Photo Credit: Matt Collamer unsplash.com Copyright © 2020 Donna-Luisa Eversley and Dwordslayer. Seize the day - now!

There are many times we wait for tomorrow. It is not promised.  We may wait for life to change and become more palatable sometimes. Then, there are moments when we wait longingly for hope to step in and make all the changes we desire. Hope is waiting for the future. To wait means standing still and allowing 'hope' to take charge. No matter how you spin it, the future is something we may never see.  Yet we believe that change can happen, and we hope that tomorrow will happen today. Then, time passes. We grow older. Our expectations and wishes may come to fruition or the waiting game will continue. As you read my words I'm sure you are waiting for the subject of this post. Every word that passes should take you to 'what is this all about'. If this is your thought, you have experienced the subject. It is about time. It is about our forevers which can be happening as we speak in real time.  I've been waiting for my kids to grow up. Waiting to get married. Waiting ...

Aging and not wasting time, talents and thankfulness

After seeing gray hairs, I'm thinking! I'm aging. We all are. From the time of our birth we are aging to the point of death. That's the reality of life. I looked at a recent photograph of me and I'm amazed...yes. God sure understands creation and is a creative inventor. Everyone has a talent and its important to discover your unique talent and grow with it. There are days I think that God broke the beautiful mold he had for me and then I look around and see so many beautiful people I think maybe he has one (1) m ... old. It makes a lot of sense if we are "in his image and likeness" that our creator has a mold for the human race and the stuff on the outside is to help us - not him- recognize each other. Thus if we pursue hating others we are in fact hating ourselves and our creator. Our beauty is in our uniqueness a nd not in the shade of our skin or our religious and social beliefs. I'm not a philosopher or a preacher. I'm no...

Not buying the fairytale…

When love goes south! Well its Friday, and I'm still trying to figure out how to share my thoughts on some topics. Love is not very easy to write about, especially when you've had a lot of 'experience' in falling off the passion rollercoaster.  I've been reading a lot this year on almost every imaginable topic. However some stories scream , respond- respond.  So here is a link to a story I read and my 'well meaning, no bullshit' response! this is how you lose her  by "Emily s " "A beautiful romantic story of loving and losing. I’m not drinking the same Kool-Aid from many years ago. It’s quite possible the mixture has changed. For love to work it has to be a two way street with both parties going in the same direction. People change. As we get to know someone sometimes that love emotion cools and is different for one person. Here is some advice to girls like her; If a man loves you he will show you, by the way he responds to ...

Just Thinking out Loud: Sharing your Truth

Facing your truth The past couple weekends have found me in a place of reflection on what a few of my friends want. Its not easy to listen to folks you love share over and over the same problems and situations and hurts and keep quiet. Okay, truthfully I do give my thoughts and observations and many times I’m the devil’s advocate. Looking back I had a light bulb moment where I finally understood that everyone is where they want to be. What they want from me is consistent loyalty, and maybe not advice or my thoughts /opinions when requested. They want me to say what they want to hear. They want someone to help them validate their unhappiness or their choices. I can’t do it. As I shared with one of my friends – if you’re in a relationship which is causing you pain, you’re committing suicide. Its all self induced because we have the natural sense to know when we need to safeguard ourselves. Fight or flee? You have to choose one because as long as you stay in a toxic situation i...

A Story - How do you want it to end... 1

So here is the deal my friends. Today is the start of another year and I thought a story was in order. I'm not sure how long it will take to get to the end, or what the end will be, but it is loosely based on a real story. I'm not sure if it is a love story though it seems to have started that way. What I can say is, this story is about relationships. Let's jump in and get started. Prologue: The Water The water splashed making a sound as a head went under. The waves rose around indicating there was no more silence. Looking up their eyes met and connected, the laughter rose between them as they shared a stolen moment across the watery divide. Dolphins mate like humans. They can show emotion through the senses, like a man and a woman feeling an immediate attraction. The mating game can start with sounds or noises which resonate between the pair of dolphins as they smell the scent of lust. Then words spoken are clicks laced with gestures and flirting, dancing like...

Christmas Then & Now

Thinking Christmas... This Christmas like every other Christmas is special. In Trinidad & Tobago, Christmas is our spring cleaning season. The smell of paint and the sound of women negotiating with storekeepers for the best deals on drapery and curtains are a part of the  preparation. We are caught up in the commercial web, but somehow the consumerism gives way to friendly camaraderie as shoppers meet and exchange ideas. Christmas trees , decorations and music fill the air. We are a vibrant people, and very visual with our emotions. The malls, streets, and every city center is buzzing with activity. For me, getting the house 'ready' for entertaining and festivities seems like a mountain looking at a pebble on the beach. Can I ever finish, and will each day last longer than the last so I can do more with the time given? I am savoring these moments. Things are different when 'time' goes by quickly. My babies are big babies, and they have their own ideas abou...

A Bee Social Moment - Your Happy!

Quest for Happiness Sometimes, perspective can be the beginning and end of what holds us back from being happy! One Sunday evening, going for a cup of coffee, and minding my own business, and I heard.. Girl Crush by Little Big Town on the radio. Well it did take me all of ten seconds to realize that there is a lot to learn from figuring out the bright side. This is a great way of looking at a problem... getting to the source to understand what makes something work. I can see how this sad turn of events in a relationship, can have a happy ending - awareness! So, as you approach the things which can make you scream, Bee Social.. and remember, relationships should inspire us to stay together. If we have to part, its okay to walk away from the bad memories and keep the good ones for a smile. I'm with the very wise Linus on Charlie Brown.. Maybe the song is childlike, but then that's where we can make things easy to understand. Maybe I'm changing the ...

RIP… JULY, 2016

Hello world… There is so much going on, in the world, and in my world. Where do I start, and how can I stop feeling an ache, a pain, all the senseless killing hurts. That’s it in a nutshell. I’ve sat at my laptop and wondered what can I say which has not been said. How can I express the thoughts which do not get a moment to finish grieve before I hear another. This time, its the slaying of a priest in France, his throat slit, while he is on his knees – how can I not feel? This is for all the lives lost in the past two months, between USA, Europe, Africa, and many other countries around the world, we are faced with loss. These deaths are not from natural causes, but from hatred and evil. To those who lost their lives and their families. For those who share my feelings at this ongoing war against humanity. For those who love their fellow man, this is a moment to grieve, giving final rites to lives which were here. The absent friend I did not see or know you I’m so sure ou...

The Fuchsia Pink Scarf

The Substance of the Journey Its July, and we have crossed the half mark for this year 2016. So much has taken place in my life and the world. I have been thinking a lot about life and what makes my own life beautiful in spite of the many challenges which have come my way. Gratitude is a feeling which overwhelms me. There are many things which can go wrong on any given day, but then again, there are many right things which unexpectedly bring light. This year, my New Year's resolution seems to be close by, at all hurdles - live. To live means that we will experience feelings and emotions. We will give and receive, and karma will follow us. Love thy neighbor I was on a flight to New York, my first international flight in almost 2 years. The accident made it almost impossible to travel previously. The injuries are healing but nerve damage has made me sensitive to temperature. I have an electric heated blanket and a 'Tens' massage sensor which I carry with me at...

Alice Goes To The Moon

Hello dear friend it's  Alice again With Saint  Bear at my side Tonight we must sleep, quietly keep After taking a ride My pillow, gives me thoughts to think About all I wish for us to see My tired eyes keep closing Finally it’s time for dreams Tonight my hope is to see the moon With Saint bear at my side The sort of dream that takes us far On a galactic ride Saint Bear refuses to sleep I think he is afraid It’s good I brought my headset for him He can use it until he’s brave Take us to  the  moon, and back Let me touch the stars just this once Who knows what mysteries lies ahead Its an adventure for me and Saint Bear I can see the heavens and the earth beneath Oops, there goes something else I know It’s the pretty flip flops my granny sent Finding its way back home How great it is these nights of dreams When all daylight has passed I wish for night to always be My present and forever last Maybe my da...

Alice & Saint Bear

These stories about Alice are tales through my inner childhood eyes. The illustrations by Lei Lei are the inspiration for Alice and her Stuffed Whale Micah, Willow her pet cat, and Saint Bear her teddy-bear friend. When we sleep our dreams are powerful, so to are those of our children. Sharing stories of friendship , love hope and adventure, can inspire great moments for any child. This is my third story of Alice Its night time now and time for sleep I can’t close my eyes, because they weep Today momma took me out with my Saint Bear Saint Bear and I went everywhere... Tonight momma opens the door and peeks inside Alice looks up through very wet eyes “Alice, please don’t cry daddy will find him soon” Alice responds, “Saint Bear was lost since noon” Momma comes in and holds Alice tight “Go to sleep my dear, he will be home by daylight”. She stays until Alice falls asleep Places Micah at her side, and Willow at her feet Away in her slumber Alice did dr...

Alice & The Tulip

Alice closed her eyes to wait for a dream If I can think hard, I can make it be As she drifts off her thoughts of summer are here Lots of pretty flowers growing everywhere She sees the red tulip, and it must be real Summer is here, no snow to be seen There is the table on the grass Two chairs chairs to be found Alice climbs the table, without making a sound There on top is momma's coffee mug With a red tulip inside Why bother to leave, no need to hide “Willow do come up” , she calls out to her cat But he is trying to get up, wondering if he’s too fat It won't hurt if I sit on the table To see this flower up close There will be no harm if it comes near to my nose. The tulip tilts over ...then she hears the bee within Won't be very happy if I end tonight with an angry bee sting Alice releases the tulip and she loses the dream She awakes to the morning Thinking, it seemed so real As she goes to her window Looking out on the...
