A Job Well Done

An Everest I looked up and my heart was filled with pride and at the same time I was in awe. Here I stood beneath the silver ceiling, cool and comfortable, looking at my project. The first big one undertaken some years ago has stood the test of time. There was a lot of movement in the warehouse. The forklifts and people were busy moving in and out. The place was filled with activity and action, and I felt that sense of accomplishment one can only feel when they have climbed an Everest. Happy customers What are you prepared to do to ensure your customers are happy, not just for the short term, but for a long time?  As I gazed at the ceiling, someone touched my shoulder. From the moment I entered to the present the workers were coming up and asking when will the other parts of the warehouse be insulated and ventilated. Without words they seemed to understand it was not as simple as it appeared, and were grateful for the relief they experienced daily within the area....

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE USA!

A  bebee  celebration! Happy Independence Day to all the bees and  citizens of the USA! Feeling a Buzz on your shores ready to celebrate…bees are swarming! Today, I am sharing  some of the words of a few bloggers from the USA in my network who I enjoy reading. In fact, these writers make me chuckle, laugh, go into deep reflection and retrospection and keep me mentally stimulated by their words! For this day let me introduce some of my blogging comrades, with all the pomp and ceremony my fingers can evoke…   Matt Sweetwood   I am a fan of Matt, and the first day he liked a post from me I was thrilled for a week! It is safe to say I’m sweet on Sweetwood, no pun intended! He is a parent, businessman and an advocate for men’s rights. He is also a social Media Guru  who ‘knows the ropes’ and more. Here is my article of choice for today. He also has an excellent website you can visit to learn more on this link  https://msweetwood.com/...

R.O.A.R – CAPACITY TO CHOOSE

“There are no quick fixes in life…if the substance of achieving is learned”(Eversley,2016) Winning There are many ways to lose, fail, and give up. There is one way to succeed and win. Decide and choose which path you will take and get a move on it. The challenge is in keeping the mind and body in sync with fulfilling purpose and self-gratification. When a team wins and you’re a part of the team, you win. When you embark on a project alone and you succeed in accomplishing what you set out to do, you win. There is no ‘I’in team as we learnt in team building exercises. However, there is an ‘I’ in  ‘WIN’ and either in a group or on your own, you must bring that ‘I’ to the table. Doing your part involves getting your adrenaline to rush. It is that inner determination to achieve, which can get the blood pumping and the excitement to pull through. Through the years I have discovered every-time I get that ‘rush’ I will roar. Winning, in my opinion, means getting into a race with...

Seeing The Glass For What It Is

The Light Yesterday I saw one of my doctors, and realized my journey will be long. I knew this before, but it only hit me ( a big wallop) last night. I have ongoing pain. Some days are better than others, but I am alive. For those following my journey you will know this year I decided I must live, live, live. Whatever your story, whatever your struggle, whatever your challenges - you are alive to see another dawn. I have over thirty plus years experience in "sales and business development"and most aspects of  both fields. Tough times don't change unless you get tough and wise. For life to be sustained you have to find a way to balance the challenges of your professional life and your personal reality. I have had the privilege to be an entrepreneur  working in a regional market with an international supplier and a local base. I have had successes and I've had my share of failures, all adding to my practical experience. Most importantly though, I have had th...

SALES – YOU’RE KIDDING….RIGHT!

Why sales as a career? I’ve been searching through my thousands of pictures from over the years for a post. Its taken me down memory lane. I’m quite pleased to have done so much, seen so many places, and experienced a life full of changes. I’m thinking about sales and how wonderful a career it is, for those brave enough to jump in! Sales .. what makes a man wake up every day, and go out to work? Why do you shop  at the same supermarket, and go to the same green grocer weekly? Why do you dream  of the car you are not driving or the house you saw on the corner of your street? There is one thing which happens daily as we hustle to wake and get a move on it – Sales. As a child I swore I did not want to be a sales woman. No way. I was going to be an accountant or a lawyer. Something that sounded traditional, and filled with money & success! It seemed to find me – this desire to promote, persuade, coax and ultimately sell. As a child I discovered folks liked...

Let's Talk - Capacity

Capabilities are within your capacity! "Expand your capacity, and you will do more!" The human body can do many things. It will move, grow, expand, shrink, break, heal. It has the capacity to do much more than expected by the individual. Our minds will work with our conscious and subconscious expectations of ourselves to deliver what we want. We can only do, what we are capable of training ourselves to do.  Sportsmen will channel all their mental and physical capacity to train for maximum potential capability. A coach will take his team and expose them to difficult and challenging conditions to help stimulate their minds and bodies outside of comfort zones. The zone outside of one's present capabilities expands capacity. Pushing for more from oneself, is the nature of growth and an intimate awareness of  personal capacity.  Tip Self awareness is a part of personal development. Explore all parts of who you are to develop your capacity and awareness t...

NEGOTIATING SUCCESSFULLY!

Compromise Successful negotiation is about both parties ending with benefits based on deliberations. For this to happen the following is suggested; Both parties should agree on a timeline for the discussions before starting Willingness of all parties to give the opportunity to express Willingness off all parties to listen to what the other is saying Clearly stating concerns and any disagreements Asking for clarity on anything not understood An open and frank atmosphere Respectful interactions Compromise   Meeting at a location which is neutral to both parties is always best but sometimes not possible. If this happens the hosting party should ensure the guest has all professional courtesies available. Entering the negotiation should begin with trust, and it is a necessary element for there to be a successful outcome! Tip Be prepared for your discussion. Negotiation and compromise go hand in hand. Be open, be clear and always enter with the mindset that the best ...

Let's Talk ... FOCUS

Keep focused on your objective. Distractions and noise will always be present. Develop a sense of purpose in accomplishing the little things and the bigger ones will become easier! Focusing is drawn from inner strength and a cool head. Keep focused to achieve your goals! © Donna-Luisa Eversley and D-WORDSLAYER, 2016.
