Give Yourself More

Give yourself the power of more through learning!  The last six months of this pandemic has given me some great opportunities to explore LinkedIn Learning as well as a number of courses online via Coursera. I love learning, and as I try to focus on completing my major studies, it is good to work on my weak areas. Understanding the many things I can do with Microsoft  Excel has been the biggest reward from LinkedIn Learning to date - and worth the subscription. It is not a walk in the park, as its self-learning and best to practice each skill. A course which is 4 hours can become 4 or 14 days based on attention and effort. Credentials are only as good as the work you are able to do after certification, thus I’m suggesting you spend the time to get it done right. Also, the videos are amazingly well done in bite sizes, and easy to follow. Adding the link here for you to check out the Excel Lessons selected. Master Microsoft Excel  on LinkedIn  Another great learn...

I Challenge You...

The song "You raise me up" never fails to bring tears to my eyes. It does not make me sad. If anything, I am filled with a passionate feeling of courage and a desire to excel. There are many songs which will inspire and some can motivate action - for me that song does it! In 2016, I spent seventy-five percent of my blogging time on this great new social media platform called beBee.com, and it was quite an interesting year filled with a lot of growth, engagement and feelings. We build many relationships online. This is a new way of meeting and forging relationships with people whom we gravitate to through some level of affinity. In the last few weeks of the year 2016, I realized my life now included a group of individuals I can call friends, who I had never met face to face but through consistent interaction, sharing and sometimes verbal discussions. For some the use of WhatsApp, skype, and Facebook were extensions of our growing affinity, which started via beBee....

As I beBee ME!

Reflection I’ve had my own share of challenges on this journey called life. Sometimes we get more, much more than we feel we can handle, but yet we press on. We do not have an option to give up on this beautiful today every morning when we open our eyes.  My right hand hurts with each key that I press as I type, but each day it gets easier. My eyes and my heart feel courage which at times waver when the uncertain casts its shadow. It is then I hear that  voice which reminds me of who I am, and who has made and formed me in his image and likeness. Then there is a peace and wonder, which challenges me to be all that I can be. Last week I had the honor of being asked to be interviewed, and the gentleman, Michael Hillebrand lit a fire, and the words came out like a blaze ignited. The blogging community has been ‘my healing well’. It’s been a great place to rest and recover, heal and be revived. As each question was asked the desire to give and share more with this buzzi...

Engagement - You got game !

Family Business Travel My second son Aaron, traveled with me to London for a business meeting a couple years ago. We were travelling with Virgin Atlantic ( best airline!) via Barbados, and I used the opportunity to meet with a major business customer. Aaron, had never been to Barbados, and was quite pleased to meet with the customer, and see  a bit of the island. The sea surrounds everything and he enjoyed lunch over looking the beautiful ocean with our client. It was in his opinion a great place for a business meeting with excellent food! Aaron, is a Manchester United Soccer fan ( we call it football)  and can also be considered a gamer. He is in a 'stuffy traditional career'- accountant, and an entrepreneur, as is my elder son. The genesis of this post is actually based on a conversation he was sharing with his brother. I was eavesdropping and enjoyed the experience, though I did jump in at the end!  Gaming requires engagement! "You are, either a part...

The Blogging Society

The Blogging Society Today marks the first day in a collaboration between Laura Mikolaitis and myself. We have embarked on a connection between the USA and Trinidad, cold and hot weather with our personalities and pen as our armor. We met online, and our words have been speaking to each other. Laura M (as I will fondly call her) shares some comments which blow me away and send me into deep thought and emotion most times. She is daring, witty and a ‘marketing savant’, and great blog supporter. Before I heard her voice, I knew she would sound as she did. She sounds all girly and strong with a bit of laughter in her tone. I’ve discovered over the past months we share a passion for ‘humanitarian advocacy’ in the workplace and have a shared compassion for taking care of those who need a voice. We now share our voices and perspectives on some questions on blogging! Can blogging be considered ‘news’ or opinions? Donna-Luisa:   Well initially I thought blogging was more about ...

Who are the bloggers...Part 1

Blogging It's a different world when you enter social media blogging. It's a world of writers who write what they feel, love and share. It's interactive and engaging enabling conversations, opinions and sometimes energetic debate on social and global issues. This world exists via the internet. Technology allows us to get close and personal, forging relationships without the need for physical interaction. Many years ago , before the internet, writers were restricted in the avenues of sharing their words. Publishers and bookstores were a major part of distribution. This has changed, with technology making publishers and bookstore-owners of anyone desiring to create their masterpiece. Who determines a 'best seller' largely rests with marketing savvy, distribution and networking. Websites with blogging platforms have made writing and sharing easier. Bloggers can choose from a wide selection of  social media sites and everyone is looking to host 'content...

An Invitation..to follow!

The Exploration Life is interesting. It can even be amazing, and that's the way 2016 has been so far for me. This year has brought a newness which is quite adventurous in outlook. It is me in a different way. I can be all things I choose to be even in a state of physical repair. As I find the me from before the new me present, I discovered....a big discovery...wait for it... wow.. I'm me. I'm still an overachieving  business woman / entrepreneur, who loves to make everyone happy. I'm thrilled with seeing smiles, and I am passionate about people and life. Mentally, the flashbacks and memories of the horrible accident will remind me of a happening, I wish to forget. Physically my body says, "wait, you are broken." I'm still here still standing ( or lying down most times), and I'm okay. I'm at the best place I can be today - and so are you! Thus my exploration into blogger's universe has been like going to the moon - and I like it out the...
