Valentine's Day and Love

Valentines Day and Love I'm not looking for roses, Don't send me a bouquet. I'm not feeling for your chocolates Don't get me started on even cake I'm not feeling for the date night Nor the sentiments of love Why do you wait on Valentines Day To give me all the above? I'm not feeling for your phone call To ask me out, for dinner this time I'm not waiting for a special song The one, that says "you'll always be mine" I'm not trying to be difficult Really, I'm not sure you can see Why do you wait for Valentines Day To say - I love you, my boo, my baby? I'm not going to try to tell you About all the days you made me cry I'm not even going to give you One more reason, to stay at my side I'm still the person you met so long ago The one you promised to be faithful to Why should I wait for just one day To hear you love me too? To all of those who are celebrating And happy to spruce up and get dressed To all the loving couples Who a...

Another Dance

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Maksym Kaharlyt Another Dance   Move onto the floor Gaze around in this place Find the one who connects with you As you seek to find your space. Move your eyes to the left With a smile and a glance Sway gently to the sounds, Its your music, so just dance.   Move your feet with a lift Take your eyes away from him Just focus on the sound As you quickly move around. Its your night, your time to shine Your eyes revert to seek him out Its okay to dance for him to see Give him a dance for memory.   Dance, dance It’s just another night to put on a show Fast or slow no one else will know, Don’t give into the eyes That are waiting patiently To return to the arms that forever will be A reminder of the night when they first met Dance my darling, life has no regrets.   25/04/2021   Eugi’s Causerie weekly prompt has guided my thoughts, inspiring a passionate outpouring as above....

Reflections

The past is never what it appears to be Weighing pros and cons from my reverie. The things gone by are a lesson for life, Moving on with a future, uncertain of luck or strife. As I reflect upon the things, I did in my past These reflections are deep Sometimes showing up for contrast.   Though I try to keep them from coming forward It’s a struggle to not think of how things can have power This journey I walk is always alone For this very reason, ensured I have a home. Reflecting on things I have not managed yet to do Is a reminder that regrets sometimes - do follow you.   I’ve always wanted to be the best mother I could be Not sure if you asked my kids, if they would agree. There is never a day when I’ve forgotten my role As a mother is forever, all over the world. They are older, and no longer holding onto ...

A Canopy of Grace

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Thom Milkovic   Drop your canopy O Lord, let it fall on the earth. Let it pick up all the people who are suffering and hurt. Let your canopy be big enough, that everyone can fit, Lord please I beg you, allow everyone to see it. Drop your canopy on the ground O Lord, Because some people cannot look up high For these are the people who love you, and without it may surely die. Drop your canopy dear Lord, for the little children to see Especially, the ones who are impoverished and living in poverty Drop your biggest canopy dear God on the earth Let it be enough, like a berth awaiting vessels to sail A mooring prepared with glorious flair, just waiting For the people to get there. Drop it, just drop it on the earth Drop it because you care. Please let your canopy fall dear Lord, because not everyone can see Let the ones who need it most dear Lord, be covered by its safety. Drop your canopy my Lord and Savior, drop it on the...

My Canopy

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Jiawei Qian   A Canopy of Faith Which I profess My life is a story Of the times, I’ve been blessed. A childhood of joy, mirrored with some pain and sadness But there is always my hope My life in this world.   There are very few times My faith has not been tested Indeed, but for my beloved Jesus My heart would not have rested. This canopy of hope has resulted from my faith The lessons from life Proved my God is great.   I’m covered by a canopy Which keeps me safe at night Giving me protection Cloaking with its light. As my destiny unfolds Let me share this with you Jesus Christ is a canopy; for me and for you. 02/04/2021 Thank you for stopping by. A Rainbow Story

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Hedi Benyounes Raced up the hill to look outside To see the rainbow colors which cannot hide The grass was wet And down I rolled Beyond my house Far down the narrow road. The birds looked on Chirping in delight The dogs stepped aside To see my disaster flight. The sun shifted past the clouds Exclaiming with glee Come out and let’s play And bring your family! As I landed at the bottom of the hill, Lay on my back, For a moment very still. Gazing up at the sky,  It was simply wonderful to see The rainbow was looking right down at me. What a beautiful sight As the birds made their songs, The puppy and the frogs All jumped up and down. Contentment and joy Descended from above, Softly whispering to me, Here is the rainbow you love! 20/03/2021   Thank you for stopping by. A Rainbow Of Hope

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Jason Pognacnik There are rainbows in life that tip the scales They come when life happens When good intentions fail. If suddenly you feel sadness and fear Just remember a rainbow is waiting right there. You see, the rain must fall For the grass to grow, And there must be some weather For the waterways to flow. The thunders must sound to keep us cozy inside There must be some noise To help the little children hide. For the rainbow to come, The rain must subside, Cause looking out through the window The colors will come alive. It’s a symbol of hope And a lesson for folks to see, That even when you cry Eventually, you can be happy. The rainbow only comes forward After the rain is in the past, Its your miracle when life happens To say tough times will never last!     19/03/2021 Eugi’sCauserie weekly prompt is the inspiration for this poem. Always Extraordinary

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Steve Halama Do you really want to be extraordinary? Let me go - Not into the light but into the darkness. Let me find that place where others fear to walk. In the light, my light cannot be seen easily. It is in the challenges, That my glow will show, And it takes the fears and greater effort, To find that glorious difference. If I walk into that unknown dark place, It says that I am strong, I am able, I am not giving up, I am not letting go of, Taking chances and looking past risks, Not letting go of hope, trust, Not holding back on forgiveness and love. Walking into that different and dark place, Says that I am not afraid to be, Extraordinary! 14/03/2021 Eugi’s Causerie weekly prompt is the inspiration for this poem. Dreamcatcher and The Prince

Dream Catcher and the Prince Standing above I look at my prince fast asleep. He’s one of my favorites His dreams are memories. The moments he misses With mist filled eyes. A million little kisses From his mom when alive. Dreamcatcher, I am Holder of dreams Happiness and danger And other things that are unseen. I stretch my hand to guide The light towards my charge It’s a wonder he’s even sleeping His happiness is a mirage. Subconsciously my prince knows Sun comes out after rain Hidden deep in his heart He dreams of his mother again. Digging deep into his sleep And my Dreamcatcher’s nest I’m searching for memories To help him find rest. The Dreamcatchers goal Is to help happiness unfold Taking him to God For his mother to hold. His memories feel sadly real And this night will require a disguise I’m hoping his memory mother will visit To hold him till it’s time to arise. I send my silver net Filled with his tears and dreams She whispers to him Telling wonderful stories. As I look a...

The Champion

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Ameer Basheer The Champion Yes mom, I see you Doing it all for everyone You make it happen Fixing it best You turn tragedy to triumph Never wavering or giving up I’m breaking the seal on this bottle Taking a glass and toasting to you You are a champion You make it happen Take a rest, I’m with you. Who is the real champion? Is it son number one who Gives it all up to fulfil his mama’s dreams Who takes the burdens of the family Making his mother’s load easy. Who is the real champion? Is it son number two Setting aside his life for a bigger cause Helping his mama to get through The challenges of living Giving time for her to be renewed. Champions are right here with us Don’t struggle outside to see In your home, they are there In your family. Who is the champion that lifts you up And carries your burdens some...

After Romance

Photo Credits: unsplash,com/Ivana Medic After Romance… Can’t let you sweep me off my feet I’ve learnt that romance can be quite cheap A few words and whispers Then suddenly it’s all guile But it soon will be over Romance will die No sadness intended but romance should be banned It deserves to go hiding In fairytale Wonderland Don’t think I am still a fool Romance died soon after My graduation from school The butterflies have stopped living In my belly and my head Experience has taught me Timeless love may be dead Let the man I have yet to meet understand Romance left me waiting in another land Romance may be dead for me But for you I will pray That you find someone to love and romance you In that perfect special way. The best is yet to come, but take no advice from me Romance is okay if it makes you happy. 11/02/2021 Copyright ©2021 Dwordslayer & Donna-Luisa Eversle...

Romance Gone Wrong

Photo Credits:unsplash.com/Kelly Sikkema Romance gone wrong I used to dream that I would meet Someone who would love me completely He would want to give the roses a chance And he would find just the right music To give me romance. For many years I read and created a mold A man above all who’s love would unfold Before his heart would be left unfulfilled He would want to be with me A romantic way to live Yet, many moons have since past My slipper is lost, The prince in my fairy tale Replaced by frogs with no songs My Romance gone wrong Still, in my older years I still hope maybe The elusive romance will somehow find me And I will be tasked to dig deep And compromise Romance or folly, temptation may be denied What is the romance we desire when we wait When the fantasy plays in your heart and the dance stops before it begins What re...

Understanding Life

Photo Credits: unsplash.com/Alex Ringer Understanding Life I sit alone and think Wondering about my time here on earth. When we are born It is our death which comes next We walk through this world Not knowing the day, the hour, or the moment, when we will say goodbye. Do you live to die or are dying to live? When life happens, we grow And when death is coming We do not know. Thus, we forget that time is all we have that we hold, purposing ourselves on earth. I sit alone reflecting on, all the folks once judged, maybe also being judged. The unfairness of time, it does not give time for full recompense. There is joy and kindness later on in life, because we learnt from our experiences and lived our lessons well. Can we redo from birth to present? Is there a way to turn back the clock to be- a better human, maybe? Yet the curtain wi...

Imagine Me

Photo Credits:unsplash.com/Sai De Silva Imagine Me   My mother always had a playful daredevil streak She was a teacher, and actress, a creator, an inventor A survivor.   My mother loved fashion and dressing She had style and class, and loved wigs and Marilyn Monroe The stars in the sky and on the screen, inspired her.   Today my mother is older and wants to hold onto her independence ‘Once a man twice a child’ is the saying I hear, with tears understanding My mother is growing older, and so am I.   Imagine me, as I used to be in the past with my mother Indeed, I was as cheeky and brave and bold just as she was at times As I really see my mom now, imagine us – older now.   Imagine that time just keeps going and its speeding up fast And I just want some more time to do more, be different, be better for her. We are in this together, me and her, her and me – we.   Imagine that there were words spoken and unspok...

A Valuable Year

We all waited to come through The sudden darkness of 2020. Eager for a new year which would end The plague felt by many. Yet, the future is still unknown, Even though the hope seems certain.   I do not long to see the end of 2020. There was much learned through the Adversity and different changes which Steam-rolled into the present as we know it.   I saw the homeless and the hungry given food By the man with little to spare. And I saw the woman embrace her spouse whom She had not paused to hold in a while. I saw the children struggle to learn amidst a virtual setting With teachers who knew as much as their students, Yet they both learned to understand together. I saw the parents with little knowledge teach their children The art of learning through a struggle to live. Then there was the business owner who realized his staff Were worth much more than he could ever have paid before And I saw the doctors and nurses dig deeper ...

Life quotes by Dwordslayer - differences

As we come to the end of 2020, checking through archives and sharing some quotes from posts. First comes from one of my favorites "Of Panties and People: Fads and choices" (2018) What are you thoughts on this, as we near the end of another year. How tolerant are you? How open are you to others who think differently? Keep safe and understanding of each other.  Peace and love. Dwordslayer

Too Many To Count

It's too many to count! There are too many times when the wrong thing is said. Too many times when backing down is not an option- at least from my perspective. With so many things that have gone wrong in my life , there is so much more that has been right. The framing of all your experiences can change as time changes. It is okay to see things from a different angle. This is the beauty of time. Can you count the pebbles in the picture, but do you really want to? You see, sometimes it is not what is facing us that is the challenge, but how we see the task. Maybe the amount of pebbles do not matter, but what matters is they are placed before us, in a way that seems confusing and out of place and order.  If you look closely at the pebbles a few stand out.  Different and imperfect shapes and sizes, but we do see them. I see you among the pebbles, and count you.  Be blessed and encouraged. Copyright © 2020 Donna-Luisa Eversley and Dwordslayer. All Rights Reserved

Kind or Cruel: Choose one

You have a choice today ... To be Kind or Cruel What do you choose? This week I challenge you and me to not look the other way when we encounter an uncomfortable situation with someone in need of help. It does not have to be a destitute person on the street. It can be closer to home or even on Facebook or any social media platform. A day to positively impact others is required. What You choose to do is an action . Hope or nothing. Being indifferent You don't need to share this with anyone, or you can check your inner circle and make this a week where your ripple creates a wave. Pandemic safety - wear your mask / wash hands /social distance /stay at home Have a beautiful week. #kindness #humanity #choices #love Find me on Twitter https://twitter.com/DLE41 or drop me a line on dwordslayer@gmail.com Photo Credit: Matt Collamer unsplash.com Copyright © 2020 Donna-Luisa Eversley and Dwordslayer. You are Entitled to Happiness

You are entitled to Your happiness! Yes, that's right, you actually own the rights to your happiness. You have a choice every day, to wake up and smile. You can be happy at the beginning of the day, and during the day, and yes, before you go to sleep, it’s okay to be happy. During this year 2020, the world has fallen to its knees. Everyone, in all countries of the world are focused on something we have no control over. The Coronavirus Covid_19 has become a common denominator in conversations. It’s the one thing we can agree matters to most of us, and our families. It has become of source of fear, a sense of dread, and even a mood of hope. In the darkest moments we can find hope. The Fear is based on what we don’t know, and because there seems to be a lot of certainty surrounding a cure. While the World Health Organization (WHO) has given general and basic guidelines for global management, it’s the managing or lack thereof which triggers fear. The sense of dread is rea...
