A Job Well Done

An Everest I looked up and my heart was filled with pride and at the same time I was in awe. Here I stood beneath the silver ceiling, cool and comfortable, looking at my project. The first big one undertaken some years ago has stood the test of time. There was a lot of movement in the warehouse. The forklifts and people were busy moving in and out. The place was filled with activity and action, and I felt that sense of accomplishment one can only feel when they have climbed an Everest. Happy customers What are you prepared to do to ensure your customers are happy, not just for the short term, but for a long time?  As I gazed at the ceiling, someone touched my shoulder. From the moment I entered to the present the workers were coming up and asking when will the other parts of the warehouse be insulated and ventilated. Without words they seemed to understand it was not as simple as it appeared, and were grateful for the relief they experienced daily within the area....

Bees and me ...in real life!

Beekeeping & Stings This is the first of my reflections from experiences with bees...enjoy! Bee Keeping is not  for the faint-hearted. In fact when you get that first sting, if you are like me, then fifty shades of red will be color of your cheeks. I can still remember the sharp stab by that bee which followed me around as I flung my arms to and fro waving at it. The little bee probably thought I was engaging in a ritual war dance before attacking, and checked his Sun Tzu script. He was quiet, lulling me into a false sense of security, waiting for the unguarded moment to strike. For a brief moment I could not see him, I thought I was safe and suddenly … zap #%*# he got me! The first sting hurts  the most. I screamed, and swore the relationship with my then boyfriend – who ended up being the father of my children - was over! Alas the pain from that sting only made me stronger and wiser for the next one. I thought I was prepared and ...zap #%*# it happened again the...

The Business Of Fixing...

Getting a Light-bulb Moment There are few times I cannot write. This is one of those times. Words should offer some level of hope. This is my philosophy. This is my way. There are so many negatives and crisis in the air around, adding to it will not differentiate you. Walking in misery will not change your circumstances – it will make the journey harder, and you will miss the momentum of life, and a good fix! The Personal to Fix  For many months one of my doctors has been going through my healing process with me. He has seen me during body spasms of severe pain and has found alternative means of reducing the pain with less medication - heated blanket and a 'tens unit'. I like the way this doctor thinks. He has referred me to other specialists and continues to believe that one day this journey will end positively. I am severely sensitive to temperature since the accident. I use a winter jacket in a tropical country when I need to enter an air-conditioned room. On e...

Taking a step to share what I normally would to a sales team in person via a blog takes a lot of planning. The first week of two minute daily posts, are done and the images to bring them to life ...

NEGOTIATING SUCCESSFULLY!

Compromise Successful negotiation is about both parties ending with benefits based on deliberations. For this to happen the following is suggested; Both parties should agree on a timeline for the discussions before starting Willingness of all parties to give the opportunity to express Willingness off all parties to listen to what the other is saying Clearly stating concerns and any disagreements Asking for clarity on anything not understood An open and frank atmosphere Respectful interactions Compromise   Meeting at a location which is neutral to both parties is always best but sometimes not possible. If this happens the hosting party should ensure the guest has all professional courtesies available. Be open, be clear and always enter with the mindset that the best ...
