A Life of Love for Davita

Some say Love….

What does love really mean to those who dare to love? That’s a question which can only be answered when love is tested. Enduring love, will fight to secure the right to give and receive love in return. There is a love which proves itself over and over again- a mother’s love.

Denise & Dariya

I know a beautiful woman, who is a great friend and mother. When I think about a love being tested, I think about her. Denise is an emotional bundle of energy, with eyes which search your soul as she speaks. When she loves, it’s everything with no holding back. When she shares her family photos there are pictures of Davita. Her beautiful daughter, who was here, for a short time, came to life before she was ready. Her life will never be forgotten. Her sister Dariya holds her teddy bear at night, the only connection to her presence. The stories of who she was remains, shared among the photographs displayed with family photographs. She lived for six months on this earth!
Dariya is a mini Denise. A reflection of her mother, with love flowing abundantly. Her smile is infectious as is her expressions of love for those around her. She will learn love from the ones closest to her, and will share it as she experiences it with others. Children absorb their environment as they grow, and love is a vital part of that environment!
This love to me is remarkable, in it's living reminder. The woman who gave this love for her baby girl, was standing over me as I came out from surgery a few years ago, and then appeared on another occasion in my hospital room not too long ago. She takes nothing for granted; she understands the action of love.
This beautiful vivacious, intelligent and sexy diva makes me smile. She has it ALL TOGETHER…and she has a heart of gold.

Love's warrior

When I think about adversity and love this woman is a fighter. She is a fantastic cook, and an excellent home maker. Yes, she is real. She is a mom, stepmom, wife, daughter, sister, cousin, friend and business executive.  Some say love and loss can make us sad – she chooses to grab onto life, and wins. She makes mistakes like everyone else, and owns it, even sharing.
There is a part of her story which tugs at my heart when I realized the lengths she took  to help save her daughter's life. No stone was left unturned. Many of us mother's / parents make that decision, because the thought of not giving all does not exist. It is how we give love.
We choose how we love, and who we love. For better or worse we are born into a family or into this world hoping to be loved. At birth the first breath of life from a mother  is a bonding experience. That feeling at first sight for most will not change. It is planted deep inside a mother's heart. Perfection is life, however it becomes real. Therefore love, should be perfect in spite of challenges, or irregularities with birth. This love is real, and this mother is real.
As I face my journey towards recovery, she is with me in my thoughts and spirit – and if I gave her a chance she would be here every single moment she could. Denise proves love has a soul. A mother can feel and love a child so much her memory lasts with love and joy.
Mother's day is about love  and family and a life of love makes Denise shine like all the stars in the sky!
In memory of Davita Nancoo..born March 2,2007 - departed August 26,2007
Let's remember those parents who will fight and make that sacrifice for love. Share with me and inspire...

Metals and Another Passion

An unexpected passion

I knew I would like the paper. It’s title signaled to me, answers to questions I have long asked myself and others. My fascination with corrosion and metals stem from a desire to see industrial parts and machinery be a sound investment for islands like my own. When you are surrounded  by  the sea, the salt in the atmosphere clings and leaves its presence on metal surfaces, causing deterioration, rusting and compromised metal integrity. This can cause accidents and losses in equity when equipment purchased, does not ‘stand up’ to the ‘island test’.
The atmosphere in the Caribbean islands will have a higher salt content as our size is not significant when compared to the huge land masses in countries such as the United States of America or Europe and Australia to name a few. It is a familiar sight to see welded joints or machine fabricated points of contact rusting in industrial equipment. Though many motors may come sealed with a protective covering based on acceptable standards, on many occasions,it simply slows deterioration. There are coatings which can be ordered with products but these are add-on’s and will last for a specific period, eventually breaking/ flaking away. From a layman perspective, this means predicting depreciation values based on local conditions and not necessarily on manufacturers warranty as per usage.

Fans

I like the look of smooth metal  industrial extractor fans. I like the sound of each surface based on its thickness and iron content. If you give a gentle knock on a metal surface it makes a sound. Some large metal industrial fans can sound dense when tapped. It’s a combination of the product specifications, motor, and the conditions of use together with product design which result in the overall sound. Axial fans tend to have a deep sound, but some can be high pitched in my opinion. The centrifugal fans, based on the shape and location tend to be less noisy, but sound can be controlled based on installation and ancillary products used. Domestic fans for home use tend to be relatively quiet, and are available in beautiful designs, all aesthetically pleasing!
For over 11 years  ventilation and  extractor fans with these beautiful propellers to move air have become significant to me. They extract hot, foul, stale, contaminated air and bring in air from the outside ( hopefully filtered!). Powerful. Dynamic. Strong pieces of engineered ventilation solutions, which can help to enhance the quality of the home or work environment. It is necessary in this industrialized world to think about air quality and its impact on work environments. A follow up post on basic ventilation and its impact in commercial applications will be published soon.
This is a  different world where my passion for adequate ventilation to be available and in all buildings matter. Building safety and building codes are still being compromised in many countries. Sometimes its not deliberate, simply a lack of awareness and understanding. As technology becomes available and incorporated into designs, product integrity and performance will be impacted by research and its improvement on existing products. People, buildings and products need a balanced environment to thrive and breathe! We need fans, pun intended!
I enjoyed the peer reviewed article by Milos Djukic and his colleagues on Hydrogen Embrittlement of Industrial Components: Prediction, Prevention and Models. It took me back to a few years ago, and the excitement of working with ‘fans’ and their effectiveness in commercial settings.  I see things differently, and enjoy learning about findings which will enhance product offerings. This is not a scientific discussion from me, but has added more fuel to a subject area which is fascinating. Understanding ‘why’ is always a great place to start.
Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoy my discovery of this article on corrosion and will check it out.

Expectations and Limits

Expectations

Life can give you a kick when you least expect it - in a good way! There are curve balls and circumstances which shape the things we expect. Sometimes a calculated and cautious outlook is necessary, and at other times, facing 'expected reality' shows our faith or lack of.

People are the ones who set expectations and limits. How much is possible in a week of sales from one salesman will be different from two salesmen. The market conditions and economic climate, buying trends, competition and product offering are some of the things in the mix as we predetermine expectations. Once expectations are formed based on market potential and people potential, a realistic evaluation can be assumed, and thus expectations and limits are set.

When expectations are exceeded, it does not mean the bar was set too low, or all conditions were lined up perfectly in favor of the successful person. It also does not mean lady luck stepped in. It probably means someone worked very hard, in spite of the circumstances, and gave it their all thus a successful outcome. The limits and expectations of others were not what determined the outcome. That man or woman, set forth to do the very best possible and nailed it!

The Student

There is a story of a young man who was generally considered an okay student. He was a bit slow in writing and processing information, but would make an effort to give his best at all times in school. His elder brother appeared to have that natural ability and flair for academics, but he seemed to have to double his efforts to pass his exams. As he approached his final year of school, he got together with a group of students like himself and they studied with the help of his brother and each other. A few months before his exams he was diagnosed with a medical condition which required urgent surgery immediately after his final exam. He completed his exams, and had multiple surgeries, before the results of his exam became available.
On the day he returned home from the hospital his mother went to collect his results. She advised her friend who went with her of her expectations. She expected, based on the conditions of  his ability, pain, challenges and mental stress, a less than positive outcome. It was impossible to believe realistically, there would be very favorable results. Thus, it was a surprise to be advised he was one of the top students in the school that year passing all exams with good grades. It was a surprise, and a time of extreme joy! He was also quite pleased with his results and those of his friends. They all passed their exams. He advised, he knew he had to work harder and gave it his all, with his expectation to do his best, putting no limits on his best.

The student is my son, and I'm the mother who placed limits on expectations at that time.

Exceed in understanding

That was a curve-ball kicking moment which defined how I see expectations and limits. We are all capable of accomplishing that which we set out to do. Everything we can do is done through our preparation and readiness. A runner will train, and prepare, and race with others always hoping to exceed his present time. The race is with his ability before he faces others. He prepares, trains, and becomes the best he can be at his sport. We should approach life this way.

Exceed your own expectations. Be careful in assigning limits to others and yourself. Be ready to receive your best result today for your work.

Thank you for reading and engaging as you exceed your expectations of yourself!

R.O.A.R – CAPACITY TO CHOOSE

“There are no quick fixes in life…if the substance of achieving is learned”(Eversley,2016)

Winning

There are many ways to lose, fail, and give up. There is one way to succeed and win. Decide and choose which path you will take and get a move on it. The challenge is in keeping the mind and body in sync with fulfilling purpose and self-gratification. When a team wins and you’re a part of the team, you win. When you embark on a project alone and you succeed in accomplishing what you set out to do, you win.
There is no ‘I’in team as we learnt in team building exercises. However, there is an ‘I’ in  ‘WIN’ and either in a group or on your own, you must bring that ‘I’ to the table. Doing your part involves getting your adrenaline to rush. It is that inner determination to achieve, which can get the blood pumping and the excitement to pull through.
Through the years I have discovered every-time I get that ‘rush’ I will roar. Winning, in my opinion, means getting into a race with others or myself to compete and complete an action. Thus I need to run, without stopping. The precision of my steps, the hurdles, and the surrounding conditions, only become fuel as I persist towards the finish.
Running on adrenaline rush (ROAR) can only be activated by me, the person. I control what turns that button on. Its a preset trigger, which is activated by emotion – adrenaline.
Without my ‘roar’, I’m still committed, but less determined to win, and simply committed to finish the race.

R.O.A.R

Many years ago, I was given a position in a firm to sell film. The film was not a well known brand locally, and there was a predominance of Kodak in our market. In those days I was all ‘unbridled’ brazen and bold in sales. There was no polish, no subtle actions or emotions but raw passion to jump in and succeed. The director who hired me had this new business unit as his project, and spoke with encouraging humor laced with sarcasm and directness. After, lauding my own praises and abilities, he called me out with my first task. A list of approximately twenty customers they wanted to do business with. This was my customer base to build on. I can still recall that feeling of anticipation as he surrendered his list. He advised, most had not purchased anything significant and a few nothing at all. Then, his punchline was to challenge my ability to execute favorably within a few months. As he spoke, I heard the challenge, and was cocky enough to make a positive remark filled with bravado! My trepidation changed as he flipped my trigger. The adrenaline rushed as I left his office, determined to gain the accounts, and the more valuable praise.
Within three months that list of twenty, became forty customers, and the valuable praise was received. Through the years spent under his leadership, I discovered he understood people, and he understood me. Management is also about releasing capacity to optimize performance. ROAR.

Capacity to Choose

During extreme moments of pressure on the body you can experience an adrenaline rush. When this kicks in, whatever you are doing becomes sensitive to the emotions coming forward. For  many athletes, the rush is built up in the desire, passion and excitement to win the game. When looking at a football match it is easy to see the team which seizes the opportunities with zeal and zest – maximizing on the moment, differentiating themselves. Likewise, the team which feels intimidated or overly confident can drop the ball and lose the opportunities – if their emotional rush is not positively fueled.
The underdog can win when losing is not an option. Winning completes the task. This is where persistence will equal success. The person who hears the noises saying he can’t is the same person who can hear the voices saying, he can. Who and what you will listen to is determined by you.
Running on adrenaline rush (ROAR) is activated by you and your capacity to endure. Get moving, and cross the hurdles, till you win.
This is the third part of a series on Capacity. The first part is  Capacity and the second is Capacity 2: A deeper meaning-Endurance
Thank you for reading and engaging as you roar on your journey!

beBee....Me

beBee  Me…

Humor me when I say I need to beBee me!
Wednesday was tough, and it took me back to a time when I needed to remember that I’m resilient! It seems every time there are challenges I can find these phrases and thoughts jumping to get out, so this is what pulled me out, and got me laughing!
Laugh with me, you know you want to chuckle! Dr. Seuss has warmed many hearts through the years with his humor, and I could not resist sharing this rhyme with a message in his style!

I’m me
I will always be me
You may want to beBee me,
If you need to see me!
You can try a gazillion ways to impress me
But beBee me
And I will beBee you
If you have a hive, I need to see
beBee me, I’m serious
About being funny
If you have a hive, and it needs to grow
beBee me, will share what I know
If you think you need a really great place with activity
beBee me, and I’ll beBee you
Just think of the buzz when you get to see
How I beBee you and you can beBee me!
Be sure to beBee your new friends & business associates
at beBee a professional family
beBee  Me!

Do words need to sound serious to make sense? I'm trying to be seriously funny and make sense!

There are many ways to get a message across – sometimes the best way can be with laughter and poking fun. Maybe if we laughed more, we would worry less about the things we cannot control. Maybe we can become better at whatever we do, when we laugh at ourselves. There is a message in most funny stories, find your funny, and beBee  Me!
Humor is good and necessary - I'm beBee happy!
If you need to get social, get blogging, hang out and chat, read something great… you can find it at beBee.com!
See you in the hive!

Thank you beBee Team - I can beBee ME !

The Blogging Society

The Blogging Society
Today marks the first day in a collaboration between Laura Mikolaitis and myself. We have embarked on a connection between the USA and Trinidad, cold and hot weather with our personalities and pen as our armor. We met online, and our words have been speaking to each other. Laura M (as I will fondly call her) shares some comments which blow me away and send me into deep thought and emotion most times. She is daring, witty and a ‘marketing savant’, and great blog supporter.
Before I heard her voice, I knew she would sound as she did. She sounds all girly and strong with a bit of laughter in her tone. I’ve discovered over the past months we share a passion for ‘humanitarian advocacy’ in the workplace and have a shared compassion for taking care of those who need a voice. We now share our voices and perspectives on some questions on blogging!
Can blogging be considered ‘news’ or opinions?
Donna-Luisa:  Well initially I thought blogging was more about promotion and advertising for commercial purposes. This was propelled to the position of ‘news’ if it related to Google, Apple, USA politics ( haha), and anything which appeared to be of public interest – not simply commercial gain. That thinking got shot, as I started reading more and more on LinkedIn and Twitter. ‘Opinions’ came through more than information. Thus, I’m going to say – blogging is sharing your opinions on fact or fiction and has the power to influence. What are your thoughts Laura? Have I strayed too far from the question?
Laura: I don’t think that you have strayed too far at all Donna-Luisa. But I have to say that as a lead in question you really have my wheels turning.
When I look at where blogging started to where it is today, wow, what a metamorphosis it has undergone! Bloggers have been very adept at trekking along with the rise in social media – and now we find it integrated into our professional worlds too. In thinking about it, there’s a tremendous amount of thought leadership and perspective happening in blogs – opinions about news that brings newness to it.
Blogging is a gateway in my opinion – ah see I just connected the two – unintentionally of course! Think about the doors that have been opened and how it’s exposed us to a new age of media. As I see it, blogging spans the gamut from tips and tricks, to inspiration, to product reviews, and more. It takes branding and engagement to a new level. It’s no longer a haven for online journaling – well at least not in the way it was originally conceived. It seems for every corner of our lives, there is a blog to cover it.
We’ve definitely transformed the way we utilize blogging with one of those ways being a conduit to share, disseminate, and discuss news. But in the end, it still seems to me that the blogosphere remains rooted in ‘opinion’. Can that change, will it change? Time will tell.
Donna-Luisa:  Well I think it is news – just ‘news’ from your perspective based on the reader, and maybe some validation on their own thoughts.  By sharing your thoughts with information an invitation to discuss is sent out, thereby encouraging further discussion- in my opinion!
Do bloggers symbolize a culture and society of the writer?
Donna-Luisa:  On the surface many bloggers appear to be united by thoughts and words -a quasi-society type group. There are so many different nationalities, but we ‘trade’ in the English language with deviations based on cultural slang and sayings for illustrative purposes. The nationality does not factor initially unless the opinions expressed are radical / offensive in nature. As we discuss, and share comments the nationality can jump out, this does not appear to have any significant bearing on the post.  What do you think Laura?
Laura:  Interesting take on the question Donna-Luisa. My interpretation of it is slightly different. In today’s world, you can pretty much find a blog for any topic you are interested in. As I mentioned previously, blogging spans the gamut and it’s all at our fingertips – and it traverses the world.
Within the overall hierarchy of writing, I do think that bloggers symbolize a culture and society of the writer. Bloggers are a melting pot of voices, and as diverse as our voices are so are the topics that we write about. In my opinion, it is a transformative culture. Bloggers continue to enhance and change the way information is delivered – offering thought leadership, mentorship, and subject matter expertise on any number of things. Changing times combined with digital evolution has changed the course of blogging, and it has found a broader niche to reside in.
With technology at our fingertips, blogging can be done from virtually anywhere. How do you think this has affected the blogging stratosphere and where do you think it can go from here?
Donna-Luisa: Blogging seems to be a hobby or profession which can come alive anywhere. You just need access to the internet and your host platform. I think mobility with technology has given ‘blogs’ wings to fly. This also means you really need some knowledge of basic formatting, editing, design, social media and a reliable device.
I remember when I first started posting on pulse, it was cool, until one day pulse froze and I lost an article because I had to shut down and restart. Now I always write on a word document and copy to blog pages. WordPress and Blogger do have this challenge sometimes to a limited extent. Safer to use word! The blogging stratosphere will continue to transform how we share information and conduct business, ultimately holding its own influencer position. Many companies, such as Coca Cola, Starbucks, have already accessed the potential of blogs to build communities of customers. There is strength in advocacy for branding!
Laura:  I learned the hard way too Donna-Luisa. Pulse also froze on me, and I sweated it out. Eventually it resolved itself, but lesson learned! You bring up some good points about mobility with technology. I admit that on occasion I take technology for granted, and I shouldn’t. I can’t help but wonder how many voices remain dormant because of the digital divide? Granted some people choose not to walk hand in hand with technology, but there are people and places without adequate – or any – access to it. But that’s a whole other conversation. Nonetheless it does make my wheels turn again.
Pen and paper does seem like something of the past. Don’t get me wrong I still enjoy the tranquility of my journal, but the ease of use of our mobile devices makes it easier to capture our thoughts. It’s given us accessibility from virtually anywhere. And because of that, it has made it easier for people to enter the blogging world.
Seeing blogging infused into the corporate world, accompanied by video blogging, photo blogging, and its integration into news media certainly is a testament to its value. Let’s face it, people like to be heard and people love to share their opinions. Blogging has taken this formula and expanded it exponentially.
Going forward, it’s likely that blogging will become fully mobile as more and more people turn to the conveniences of their mobile devices. And I think it’s possible that we will see a shift in how blogging is perceived. As bloggers continue to share their voice in an effort to influence readers with regard to subject matters of various weight, this society of bloggers may morph yet again into a society of thought collaborators.
Building a brand is important; albeit personal or professional. Blogs are a way to enhance this marketing effort. What advice would you give to someone just starting out, particularly in this day and age where there are so many digital road maps to choose from?
Donna-Luisa: Blogging can be used to enhance your ‘footprint’ online. It’s like being able to say who you are – an extension of that CV or resume. Having a blog gives you a voice, one which can say a lot about who you are and your values, ability and capabilities. Some advice to share;
  1. Remember who you are and where you are.
  2. Your words tell a story which crafts an identity – be true to yourself and add some wisdom!
  3. Buy real estate. Your blog is your real estate, invest in yourself. You can acquire good land to build your property at no cost right now. You can find me on WordPress Blvd or BlogSpot Avenue. I have other properties but building seriously on these! My most current acquisition is bebee Heights, and this looks like an investment which will increase in value at a steady pace!
  4. Get to know social media by trying out the platforms. Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, LinkedIn, beBee, Medium, Pinterest, are all sources of traffic. Select your highways based on your target markets.
  5. Engagement, relationships, attitude matters!
  6. Respect the opinions of others, even if they seem far left from your own. Either decline to comment or get creative with a response. Don’t be mean, it’s not cool. Also remember, even if it feels good, do not bait a negative response, it can bite you!
Most important when you start blogging; read, and share your thoughts. I recall sharing my thoughts and perspectives for a long time before I started blogging. This helped in how I view my prospective readers, and made me very conscious of appreciation & acknowledgement. If it was not written and out there I would have nothing to read. Appreciate words and writers and comments from reader.
Laura:  Great advice, Donna-Luisa. It seems we have similar opinions on this. My advice (and mind you I’m still a novice at blogging) is this:
  1. Observe, engage, and communicate.
  2. Understand your voice and what you want to say. Remember that what you do does not define you – who you are defines you. Let that shine through.
  3. Take a chance, research and weigh your options, and don’t be afraid to ask for insight. Ultimately, choose the forums that suit you best and will meet your goals.
  4. Don’t get discouraged by the trolls. Remember people will always have something to say – and not everyone is going to agree with you. There are lovers and there are haters. How you react to them is within your control – how they react to you is not. Constructive banter can open doors, destructive banter closes them.
  5. Whatever your endeavors are remember that with each key stroke, picture and video you are leaving your digital footprint on this world. So make it a great one.
Based on our discussion it seems blogging is more than meets the eye, but less complicated than I first imagined. This is an era of social-influence and online communication. Texting, messaging and video-chatting are normal aspects of daily conversations. How we receive information is instantaneous, mobile, and visual. Emoji’s are frequently used referencing feelings and opinions emotively. The blogging society has influenced and shaped its own journalistic delivery. It is a time of opinions, and good or bad, positive or negative, someone reads what they are thinking, and will comment in interaction!
Special thanks to Laura Mikolaitis for agreeing to participate in this first blogging discussion!
Thank you for reading and engaging! We look forward to your feedback, comments, and engagement. I encourage you to check Laura Mikolaitis and her posting of this article on her blogs. There are some differences we both give. Share your feedback and enjoy two discussions!

The Business Of Fixing...

Getting a Light-bulb Moment

There are few times I cannot write. This is one of those times.

Words should offer some level of hope. This is my philosophy. This is my way. There are so many negatives and crisis in the air around, adding to it will not differentiate you. Walking in misery will not change your circumstances – it will make the journey harder, and you will miss the momentum of life, and a good fix!

The Personal to Fix

For many months one of my doctors has been going through my healing process with me. He has seen me during body spasms of severe pain and has found alternative means of reducing the pain with less medication - heated blanket and a 'tens unit'. I like the way this doctor thinks. He has referred me to other specialists and continues to believe that one day this journey will end positively. I am severely sensitive to temperature since the accident. I use a winter jacket in a tropical country when I need to enter an air-conditioned room. On evenings if I must go out I use a winter jacket. Some nights when the temperature drops I will use a jacket and a thick blanket to keep my body warm. Warmth is important.
Finally, we understand why. The body speaks when no one wants to listen. It tells us when something is wrong. It is designed to work in harmony. Each vein, ligament, muscle, blood-vessel, bone, cord, nerve, organ work with each other, directly or indirectly. If there is a problem in one area, it will affect the other in some way. My right arm no longer functions at one hundred percent, but my left arm cannot now carry an additional thirty percent burden. The strain on the left side will eventually cause a strain on the shoulder structure. It will weaken if I am not careful. The body must work in harmony, and thus repair is necessary.

The Business to fix

The business environment can be compared to the human body. The operations of the company and its performance depend on all departments working together in harmony for success. Each section is formed with people, policies and practices which are connected to the other departments and should result in an efficient operation. In many organizations business operations can be a complex execution, based on inefficiencies not corrected; and there is a ‘strain’ on the well working sections- picking up slack, to ensure they can produce their own output.

If the accounting department is inefficient, then sales and customer service may have some additional work in establishing confidence in service and the company. If warehousing does not have a system which records accurately the damages and removes such from stock, there is a problem. Reimbursement or write-offs not processed can result in the company experiencing losses on an ongoing basis. If human resources are unable to attract capable human capital to fill vacancies, then someone has to ‘double up' for an extended period, compromising efficiency in more than one area. If the building maintenance department does not fix leaks, electrical outlets, and change defective furniture then staff is uncomfortable and functioning at optimum will be compromised. The list goes on, and thus ongoing review of each area and the overall inter-connections of operation is needed when ‘the minor things’ are left undone for an extended period.

Business operations need much more than a glossy surface to inspire trust by staff and customers. It’s what’s inside which will show who you really are and what you can do.  For me, investing in good health is important. I’m happy to know what needs fixing, so I can move on with my next business project.

The next time something does not run smoothly at work - have a closer look at where it originates!

Thank you for reading and engaging. Let’s share our thoughts on the business of fixing…

Of Life Not Spoken

A  Tumultuous Time

All that I want is gone for now. Welcome the free world calls…
I would like to write about happy experiences. The things which make me smile. The ocean’s waves, playing with my feet, the bluest sky favoring me with the yellow sunlight. Entrepreneurship, mentoring, sales, business development, marketing are hidden in my cache as my focus is on the present.  We cannot feel for what we have, those emotions are left for what is lost.
There is a throbbing in my right arm pit that does not leave me. My right scapula in my back hurts an indescribable pulsing pain, which rises and falls unexpectedly. The pain in my shoulder and the scar all seven inches reminds me that life can change at any moment. The tingling in my fingers as they tap the keys on the laptop, my right hand shaking as the swelling starts reminds me my hour has past.
Breaking does not  happen when you are struck from behind by a car which sends you up, and then down onto the hard concrete surface. Breaking does not happen when you lay on the ground, and only the shrill scream of the innocent viewer seeing the car moving back to crush you, makes you aware of the end. Still yet you don’t break when you see the wheels, black rolls of rubber, moving towards you which you cannot stop, like the gloom of death so near.
Shattered, into a million pieces your world stops, and you fall, the body, the mind, the spirit, the soul reaches out to hold to catch a ray of light. Screeching, the brakes stop mere inches away, your heart beats rapidly, breathe… death does not come, but in rolls hell.
We must pray for the living not the dead, when tragedy occurs. Those who live on can only hope that justice can be just and the laws not favor the powerful with wealth alone. Evil exists as I did not know, my world a shallow belief, that doing good , being kind and fair  would all come back to me. Sending out the messages of positivity and inspirational guide, smiling encouragement filled with hope, a beacon for mankind.
Evil exists and I would do well to accept that, I’m reminded by those caring for my broken body, mind and heart. My spirit and faith shattered beyond belief. I hear Bob Marley’s truth ring true, “Oh pirates them ah rob I…” unbelievably  hoping  there is some humanity left, while I live.
Do you leave your men in the battlefield?
Do you leave your men when they fall in battle
Do you take them to the front, yet walk away when they fall
their eyes are open, and heart beating still
do you cross over, turn away
when they touch the ground....
Breaking comes when denial stops. When careless disregard for human life is revered, when defense is frowned upon and violation of basic human rights begin. Click click, the heels tap, subterfuge has a voice in the corporate corridors of hell. Evil exists, when humanity becomes the scapegoat of the power hungry wolves, as they quickly move to digest their prey – the fallen.
Sometimes, life is unkind, but we must believe in life anyway. We must believe in a fair and just legal system even when it fails to protect and serve its followers. We must believe it is wrong to bear guns to hurt another even when legislation is in place to protect and serve.  We must believe that no wrong deed will suppress the right hand of justice. We must believe justice has two hands, one for good and one for bad. We must believe in the concept that all life has value, and that power and wealth should not crush those it harms.
I smell the salt in the air as the waves rush up to me. In my dreams I do not awake to this tragedy. Yet dawn comes, my eyes open. Today when heaven releases its doors of morning light, the vestiges of sadness waits, it does not leave me alone.Yet still there is joy, and there is beauty, because there is life. The smile escapes, looking out through my window. There is hope for another today.

Because Love Knows

Sometimes we must celebrate a life which is gone. Life departs and we can grieve, feel loss, and sometimes feel very very sad. Words, can be challenging to express our deepest thoughts. So we give our best wishes, to those who remain behind, fortunate to have known of this beautiful life for a time.

In Memory of You...

I did not know you Sarah
But I knew of you from
The one who wrote of you
The one who felt something so deep
It traveled to my ear
and I did hear
About this strong woman
Filled with a capacity to move beyond mountains
Beyond all the challenges which found their way to you
Never for a moment letting go or giving up
Your life a spirited definition of womanhood
To the point of  beautiful heroine
A family's loving pride
I have not had the privilege
to meet you on this earth
To have you smile at me
But I know from your betrothed
That you captured his heart and he did not let go
He held your courage as his own mantle of strength
Your heart, came first
His heart was filled with yours
This earth has seen the magnitude of your love
Blessed with your sons to hold
Your vision to this world
I have never met you
Yet I feel our paths have crossed
Your life and love
Defines and defies life
You took it all
You stayed the course
As you go to your place
Above the sky
Far across the sea, we do grieve
You've left this world
Far better than when you came
It is an honor to have you in memory
We may not have met
But your own love
Shared a story, much bigger than a dream
Forever, mother, friend, lover to the end
I salute you
Your life
and  love for family

Life is like a treasure. When you find someone you have found a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. When the rainbow is gone, they leave behind a treasure chest of memories!
Be encouraged.
