Be still my heart...

Overcoming challenges Life can have so many challenges, but we will get through them. We can get through them if we believe we are not alone. Whatever you face is temporary. It happens in a moment and can be gone in a moment. How you see the light depends on how you see and experience your light bulb moment. As I fussed over something beyond my own control, there was this realization. This 'light bulb' moment, when I stopped leading the battle and let someone who is stronger take control. I can do all things if I let go and trust that God will handle it. The circumstances may not have changed, but my heart and head actions changed. Thus, I became stronger, and able to face the next moment. Be Still My Heart Be still my heart and let God fight your battles Be still my tongue and let your words be of good This battle you fight Will be over very soon Be still, my beating heart He fights just for you Be still my heart and let the storm pass over Be still wayward tongu...

Who Are The Bloggers ... Red-carders Part 2

Who are The Bloggers...holding red? The blogging community is very much like civil society. Expressions of interest will be voiced and swords aka pens aka keypads will be drawn. There is much adrenaline when words flare at fever pitch, masked in cryptic messages. The hosting post then resembles a WWE ( World Wrestling Entertainment) match without a prize for the winner. I find this fascinating to watch and wonder at the excitement raised. A heated discussion can flesh out points and raise real concerns and solutions. Human behavior transcends technological mediums. People desire respect, courtesy and fairness wherever they congregate. I like the ‘Red-carders’. They are the voices which stand up for something, and are not afraid to challenge the status quo. Who are these paragons of criticism, compliments and fearless writing? These are the ones I favor in the category 'Red-carder' of the Blogger Society… Itai Leshem the Avenger of bloggers & master tactici...

Who are the bloggers...Part 1

Blogging It's a different world when you enter social media blogging. It's a world of writers who write what they feel, love and share. It's interactive and engaging enabling conversations, opinions and sometimes energetic debate on social and global issues. This world exists via the internet. Technology allows us to get close and personal, forging relationships without the need for physical interaction. Many years ago , before the internet, writers were restricted in the avenues of sharing their words. Publishers and bookstores were a major part of distribution. This has changed, with technology making publishers and bookstore-owners of anyone desiring to create their masterpiece. Who determines a 'best seller' largely rests with marketing savvy, distribution and networking. Websites with blogging platforms have made writing and sharing easier. Bloggers can choose from a wide selection of  social media sites and everyone is looking to host 'content...

Finding Purpose...!

Purpose  This is an impromptu post..."we can listen, share an opinion when asked, and even offer advice, but it is the decision of an individual to determine their 'comfortable action'. As friends we can sit on the sidelines as cheerleaders, encouraging and supporting our friends in their choices. Everyone must make their own choices and are accountable for their own actions!" Having 'a purpose' is important! There must be a reason to awake each morning and face each day with a purposeful resolve. Purpose will establish a road to walk on and a place to get to. Purpose is determined by you. You get the opportunity to create a purpose for your life and your day. You also get a chance to set your goals and plan a way to fulfill your purpose. It would be a sad state of affairs in any life if  there is no understanding of purpose. Imagine waking each day and just waiting for something to happen - just waiting and wondering what will fill the time an...

Reflections on ALL.. A Mindset to Live!

An Attitude Today as I reflect on ALL that we have I am grateful and appreciative for this wonderful life I awake to. From my Facebook page, my thoughts.. "This life is worth so much more than we know as we live it! Amazing! This year I started off declaring, with each moment given I will live. Whatever my struggles and challenges with my spiritual, health, family, relationships, work, and everything else - I will live each precious moment. This has been an active mindset- and heart set change which is reinforced often. The results of this change shows everyday... I visit one of my doctors every couple weeks and the receptionist is my paparazzi. She takes these great pictures, and I can see the difference in me. Seems my friends can also :-) .. Thanks for all the great comments and phone calls on the transformation as this journey called life continues. The light in me is more a reflection of my acceptance of the precious jewel we all have called life! It is rare, it is u...

Corporate warfare - Life Games

Life is not a game! Going through my drafts I came upon this . Two verses were used in another article, the words are now all awaiting their turn for sharing. It's the thoughts of a leader injured on the job and an organisation's determination to avoid association with the liability. Everything which is not positive gets hidden in the corporate world if possible. Injuries on the job are not noted when staff are urged not to make police reports, or to keep their jobs- be silent! ISO and OSHA standards are of no value if not enforced. Fear can keep the 'thoughtful strong' quiet and make the weak strong in understanding. No admonishments, just acceptance. If life is a game at work the stakes are higher than the prize.  Do you leave your men when they fall   Do you leave your men when they fall in battle Do you take them to the front yet walk away when they fall their eyes are open and heart beating still do you cross over turn away when they touch the ground ...

As The Story Says

The Fairy-tale  "Once upon a time , far away across the Caribbean Seas in a tiny island, a family of four little girls played in the sun. They lived with their mother alone as their dad went away to seek his fortune, never to return. The girls were taught about the continents, geography, romantic dreams and of course, the reality of life..." This story could be the beginning of any one of the fairy-tales, or  Enid Blyton Stories, but it is real. Life for many children growing up when I was younger was a romantic dream of sorts on many days. We lived on stories of fairies because we were part of the Girl Guide movement, and storytelling was the way we learned about right and wrong, good and bad. There were also stories from local folklore which seemed to give credence to the existence of  a magical kingdom. Even attending bible study and Sunday Mass seemed  to be a part of the fantasy conspiracy we called reality. It was not until I turned ten or eleven yea...

Braid My Hair - Empowering The Child

A Child's Hair... The ideas for a writer can come from anything. Social issues are always inspirational for me. While some topics can be sensational and controversial, the need to express an opinion can unearth suppressed emotional baggage. Growing up I had a thick mane of long hair. It grew and grew and never seemed to stop. Living in the Caribbean meant it was quite hot and uncomfortable many times when my hair was open. The texture of my hair was soft , wavy and wild. The other children would laugh at me when they tried to plait it because there were no 'ends', and thus would not stay fixed without a rubber-band. It unraveled on its own, thus I was in the minority of girls at school with challenges in braided styles. The News... As I read an article about a school in the Bahamas suspending a girl from school because her hair was not chemically 'relaxed' to appear straight and tame, the child in me appeared. This can be socially controversial, as confor...

Happy International Women's Day 2016...

The message I did not realize how special today is until I saw a beautiful Whats App message with its proclamation! For everyone celebrating being a woman and those who appreciate the women in their lives, I'm sharing  - The Total of a Woman . You may have seen it before, but today, it's meaning is extra special! Orchids Orchids have fascinated me for many years. They have a unique quality and scent which seems very feminine and sultry.  These flowers are beautiful, strong and colorful, like us women. They need some water but can go for a long period without, always sharing their beauty before they come to an end. They are resilient, long lasting, exotic, and complex with an aura of fragility. They are orchids...just like you and me or the women you know. The Total of a Woman Thank you my friends for engaging, sharing, commenting or simply viewing the flowers above.  Here I am,  D-Wordslayer. Simply blooming differently! You can also ...

Walk On Water

The unseen In 2007 I started my second business venture and left the corporate world. It was during this time I understood what it means to have an entrepreneurial spirit. Entrepreneurs are a different breed of people. We risk. We believe. We have to have faith in what we are doing and our ability to succeed. There was a time when I faced one of my battles, an adversity of a corporate nature, and learnt my spiritual convictions were needed to persevere. Let me share my prayer which has been on the refrigerator door from 2007 when written; Walk on Water.... Lord I promise you today that if I am blessed with another moment another second, another day, without fear that I will sink into the depths that are so very deep I will walk towards you. I will place my hands in yours and let you lead me safely to the place you want me to be. Lord, if my eyes should be moved from you, if only for a moment, a second,or even a day and the depths below should rise to consume me don't le...
